Straightforward flavours of hops and malts, not super interesting, but a good tasting, refreshing beer non the less. I find headstrong beers to always have very fresh, sharp tasting hops and I come back to these beers time and time again when Im looking for something to have with a meal. I Prefer the Pale Ale over the munich lager however. But the lager is still a pretty decent brew. Quevillon (1529), Sainte-Thérèse, Quebec, Canada

Goût de malte faiblement sucré, arrière goût amère et peu savoureuse. C’est bien mais c’est tout! beergut111 (210), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Feb 21, 2007 Poured a dark amber colour. Mildly hoppy with a soapy Molson Canadian after taste. It could also use more carbonation. I dont think I would buy this again. piscator34 (1129), Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Feb 13, 2007 Dark gold in colour with slightly below averave carbonation. Aromas of Honey-Nut Cheerios cereal, and a bit of herbal hop. A bit of sweetness is the first flavor I can detect, followed by some chalky-earthy bitterness. I don’t often have this complaint, but this one really needed more carbonation... as is, it’s a little too flat/wet on the palate. Either way, it’s still not too bad of an effort in spite of the lack of CO2 and a bit too much sweetness upfront. Thanks to gregclow for the sample. | 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jan 21, 2007 650 ml bomber - pours clear reddish orange with a small white head. Aroma surprisingly milk chocolate upfront with some caramel malt sweetness in the back and the faintest trace of some floral hops lurking way back there. Flavour is less chocolatey, though that’s still there, along with the other aromas coming through in the mouth. Decent light mouthfeel, very little carbonation. Nice enough product, but I’m not crazy about the style and I’d take the FAR superior Headstrong Pale Ale over this one any day. Glad I tried this one, but there’s nothing here that is hugely innovative or different. Simple, yet good. I’ll try it again sometime, probably in the summer. | 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 11/20 | Jan 15, 2007 A reasonable effort at a Dortmunder (not really Munich) lager, better for the fact that most of the imported examples of this style are oxidized and don’t travel well. The appearance is somewhat lacking in head. As for aroma, there is perhaps more dark malt than is appropriate (use more Munich malt instead), but the flavour balance of hops and malt is about right for the style, as is the body. Not outstanding, but drinkable with no major flaws. daniel0017 (232), Ontario, Canada
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Jan 7, 2007 Aroma of roasted malts and hops. Clear, dark amber body, slightly carbonated with no head (headstrong???). Toasty roasted malt flavor nicely hopped but has an unfortunate soapy flavor in the aftertaste... Good, richly textured mouthfeel. Definitively above average but no champion. Habman (16), London, Ontario, Canada

Pours pale gold with thin head, light carbonation. First impression when raising the glass to the nose was of Creemore Lager, although less intense. After a few gulps I concluded this was not in the Creemore league, but still an enjoyable easy drinking brew. By the end of the glass I decided I would probably grab a bottle again, but it would not become one of my regulars.
