Commercial Description:
Premier Brands - the Canadian license holder for Headstrong Pale Ale - have taken the unique move of using the brand for a new beer that is not brewed at the original home of Headstrong, Montana’s Big Hole Brewing. Headstrong Munich Lager is their new offering, and like the Pale Ale, it is contract brewed at FX Matt for the Ontario market.

Golden-straw colour. Soft, slightly caramelly palate. Full, rounded, but a little bit watery. A fairly forgettable effort.

Pours gold with a white head. Smells and tastes of caramel malt with alight hoppy finish.

Golden lager with a thin dissipating white head. Crisp hops aroma with a rather sweet fruity esters wafting through. In mouth, a rather sweet lager with interesting sharp hops, lingering in mouth. The sweetness was a bit of a turnoff. LCBO.

Sweet cereal and bread-like grain with floral and lightly spicy hops in the nose. Brilliantly clear deep golden body is topped by a generous and foamy white head that lasts well and laces the sides of the glass. Breadlike malt flavour seems overly sweet and bitterness is late to arrive and not quite enough to take the edge off. Medium light body with overly prickly carbonation that is a bit harsh on the front of the tongue. Lager glass. Just above fridge temperature. Can (Brewery Creek, Jul-08).

Draught. At Smokeless Joe, shared with blankboy. Poured pale, slightly amber gold with a foamy white head. Generic aroma of lightly toasted candyish malt and honeyish grain. Taste is also lightly toasty, grainy, sweet - at least I don’t taste chemicals, a little harsh in the finish. Watery, lightly carbonated mouthfeel - it’s drinkable, but not much of a change from standard Canadian attempts at pale lagers.

Dark gold with decent white head. Toasted malts and green bitter hop aroma. Medium bodied lager with more of malty base with green bitter, earthy aftertaste. Maybe there were some medicinal notes as well. Drinkable brew.

Orangey yellow body, with a small white head. Grassy hops in the aroma. Light bitterness, grassy hops and grainy malt. Average palate. Not as good as the pale ale.
