Pint on tap at South Street Seaport. Pours a deep golden color, moderate head. Aroma is sweet and very spicy- pepper noted among others. Flavor is bitter with very high spice character and a little sweetness to balance it out. Tasted some caramel, some butterscotch also. Palate is rough, but body is much more full than other Heartland beers.

The aroma was colve, spices, pepper, maltys and honey. The appeatrance was gold, with a tinge of red, lots of white foam. The flavor was clove, spice, honey, orange peel. The finish was light hops, spices. The mouthfell wa thin medium. Not bad.

On draft at the Radio City location, one of their specials along with the Irish Red. Pour was golden with a nice white head, strong carbonation presence, bubbles steadily rising, although the head retention was not sustained, lacing ok. The aroma was strongly phenolic, clovey with a wheaty element. The flavor was again strong phenolic with wheaty zing, some fruity esters, finishing sweet. A nice shot at a Belgian, my favorite of my five beer run.

Golden color, good white head. Light citrusy nose. Watery first, then fruity-yeasty notes of apricot. Finish is spicey and a bit alcoholic. American-style Belgian strong ale - not one of the best.
