The fruit leant more to the tree ripe banana flavor and the spices seemed to lean towards the allspice type. The same flavors with a heavy wheat feel made its way through the mouthfeel and finish. wunderbier (1267), Tampere, Finland
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 22, 2004 Wheat, chocolate, caramel malt (H); clove and banana aroma. Deep hazy brown body. Heavily sweet flavor becomes a heavily sweet, lightly acidic finish. Medium body, oily texture, lively carbonation. The bottom line is: pretty simple, but very clean and well built. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 17, 2004 The beer was mild, and mostly malty. The bananas they claim are definetly there, but I don't find them that complimenting. Decent beer to have with the meal. Shadrach (176), Brooklyn, New York, USA

It smelled like banana bread and it ended up tasting kind of like what I imagine banana flavored cough syrup would be. It has a minimal taste to it and then bam it hits all at once and ends up with almost a scotch aftertaste. Very chewy mouthfeel. Poured a red semi oapque orange. notalush (2678), Denver, Colorado, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 10, 2004 I guess the name is a play on "buckwheat," because the board at the brewery said this beer was "A-Otay" - aside from the quasi-racist name, this beer was pretty decent - a medium bodied wiezen bock, with lots of caramel and chocolate flavors - an uncharacteristic level of hop bitterness creaps in that just doesn't seem to belong, and nearly ruins the beer - otherwise an enjoyable drink.
