Commercial Description:
Bottle: Filtered
Brewed in Scotland since 2000 B.C. heather ale is probably the oldest style of ale still produced in the world. From an ancient Gaelic recipe for "leann fraoich" (heather ale) it has been revived and reintroduced to the Scottish culture.
Into the boiling bree of malted barley, sweet gale and flowering heather are added, then after cooling slightly the hot ale is poured into a vat of fresh heather flowers where it infuses for an hour before being fermented.
A light amber ale with floral peaty aroma, full malt charachter, a spicy herbal flavour and dry wine like finish.
Recommended with rich and Spicy foods.
Drink slightly chilled from a fluted glass.

Bottle. Beer smell not as floral as one would think. Taste is pleasant but has a somewhat soapy after taste. Rather refreshing. Good beer.

bottle - pours light amber with small white head. Very flowery aroma with a hint of cranberry juice and malt. I seemed to detect a very faint minty herbal essence in the taste followed by floral tones and more malt, lightly bitter finish. Interesting brew.

I was very surprised by the aroma of this beer. Has a sweet and spicy zang to it. The color is golden with a little brown. A very enjoyable beer.

Amber, off-white head. Sweet, almost sugary aroma with a hint of flowers (heather, I assume) but dominated by a solid malt aroma. Palate light yet robust; flavors sweet and fairly uncomplicated. Good, but in my opinion a bit sweet for not having any real bitterness.

A very good beer. At first I thought it was lager-ish in quality. And by that I mean yeasty and grassy. Very light, floral and sweet. Finishes slightly sour, some fruits. Well balanced beer, unique offering.

Bottle. Clear, golden pour with a white head that lasts a little while. Aroma is grainy and slightly sweet with subtle notes of honey, malt and spices. Flavour is very similar with additional citrus and herbal hints, as well as more prominent sweetness. Light to medium body, fairly thin mouthfeel and a lingering sweet finish. Not a bad beer but more interesting than delicious.

330 mL bottle. Clear golden pour with a white head. Aroma is sweet with apple notes, some strawberry, grape, bread, and hints of spices. Flavor is toasty bread with white wine flavors, honey, floral notes, and pepper, with hints of strawberry. Mildly tart. Very enjoyable, though a bit on the light side, and it seems to get lighter somehow as I drink more.

Clear and light golden with a small fizzy white head. Honey, bubble gum, herbs, heather, broth and sweat on the nose. Honestly not very inviting. Sweet in the mouth with light acidity and bitterness. Floral and hoppy hints. Light to medium bodied, dry texture and soft carbonation. Tastes better than it smells, but no masterpiece.
