MBison (548), Southern Highlands, Australia Jul 14, 2008 Updated: Jul 15, 2008Bottle (500ml). Poured a golden hay with a slight haze and a averaged sized, fluffy, white head which was average lasting. A spicy aroma with strong notes of nutmeg and allspice, spicy hops, coriander, some banana clove like notes and hints of caramel malts. Flavor was very smooth with not much bitterness; strong notes of phenol and nutmeg with some allspice, suggestions of vegetables, some caramel malts hiding beneath the spice (presumably the heather) and some clove-like, vanilla, banana notes in the finish. Medium bodied with soft carbonation, a cream mouthfeel, smooth texture and a good finish. benbakelaar (5), North Brunswick, New Jersey, USA does not count Jul 11, 2008 Not much aroma, but my sense of smell is not that good. Light, yellow gold color, clear. Surprisingly creamy, mild taste, not what you would expect based on the color. A bit flowery, definitely has a fizzy bite to it. The description of a dry wine finish is dead on. Verboten (2), Gainesville, Florida, USA does not count Jul 10, 2008 Low carbonation. crisp spiciness with overtones of citrus. Flavors perplexed me at first, this one takes a while to wrap your tongue around. overall very drinkable, really refreshing aftertaste. great for a hot summer evening. MiP (8792), Sønderborg, Denmark Jul 6, 2008 Bottle, 5% at ÅBF08. Golden colour. Weak pine flavour. Special enough to be slightly interesting. ilherps (212), Carbondale, Illinois, USA Jul 5, 2008 Updated: Jan 19, 2009This is a very interesting brew. The flavor is strongly malty, with some deep citrus flavor coming through. Aroma is also malty, with a bit of dustyness, like must. It is an intriguing beer, and definitely worth checking out if you like lots of malts with a bit of citrus flavor. MrBunn (1518), Western, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 3, 2008 Bottle. Pours with very little carbonation over a coppery body. Aromas are herbal with an apple juice backbone. Flavor is apple with medicinal herbs. Not really my cup of tea... or ale... JamesD (192), Centreville, Virginia, USA Jul 2, 2008 This beer is very odd. It has a slightly floral aroma but when drunk, it has a very distinctive flavor which defies categorization. I can only say that it has a slightly berry like nature. I drank the entire bottle trying to put my finger on what it tasted like. This is a good, interesting adventure in a bottle. daddyslick (36), Arizona, USA Jun 28, 2008 This beer is very sweet in a way that no other normal brew can be. Heather is what was used to keep the beer fresh before hops became used. This beer does taste like a german style lager with a very pleasantly sweet taste mixed with it. It is very enjoyable and very drinkable. light bodied.
