Commercial Description:
Bottle: Filtered
Brewed in Scotland since 2000 B.C. heather ale is probably the oldest style of ale still produced in the world. From an ancient Gaelic recipe for "leann fraoich" (heather ale) it has been revived and reintroduced to the Scottish culture.
Into the boiling bree of malted barley, sweet gale and flowering heather are added, then after cooling slightly the hot ale is poured into a vat of fresh heather flowers where it infuses for an hour before being fermented.
A light amber ale with floral peaty aroma, full malt charachter, a spicy herbal flavour and dry wine like finish.
Recommended with rich and Spicy foods.
Drink slightly chilled from a fluted glass.

Bottle: I rather enjoyed this beer. Pours golden with a small head. Aroma of flowers, fruits and ginger. Weird, but good.

This is one of the most different beers ive ever had. the spicyness of this was just hard to describe. sort of like a tripel mixed with maybe hints of coriander and citrus. i actually really enjoyed this and will have it again.

Bottle. [Courtesy of yespr, thanks buddy] Huge beige and creamy head that mostly lasted. Good display of lacework. Clear golden colour. Fair display lf lacework. Clear golden colour. Aroma of toasted malt, fruit, grain, strange herbal feel, coriander, ginger, flower. Medium bodied with an average carbonation. Moderated sweet flavour with mild bitter notes. Herbal and spicy lingering finish.

Interesting aroma, floral, with earthy tones. Slight maltiness. The appearance is a very hazy yellow with a gold/red tinge. Interesting flavor: lot of maltiness, and some spicy notes. The palate has a strange yet not unpleasant bread dough like character, which dissipates quickly. A little fruitiness also lingers. Interesting brew. I will always try any so-called "traditional ale" as I find them fascinating. This one is definitely unique and worth a try, even if I wouldn’t drink it everyday.

Bottle. Clear, golden color with a thin head. Light, fruity aroma. Really simple yet good flavor. With a strong malt backbone, and a dry, clean finish, this beer is semi herbal or floral, has light notes of apricot, touch of grape. Very refreshing, I don’t know why such low scores. I thought this was well done and original. The history alone deserves a point or two.
