Commercial Description:
Bottle: Filtered
Brewed in Scotland since 2000 B.C. heather ale is probably the oldest style of ale still produced in the world. From an ancient Gaelic recipe for "leann fraoich" (heather ale) it has been revived and reintroduced to the Scottish culture.
Into the boiling bree of malted barley, sweet gale and flowering heather are added, then after cooling slightly the hot ale is poured into a vat of fresh heather flowers where it infuses for an hour before being fermented.
A light amber ale with floral peaty aroma, full malt charachter, a spicy herbal flavour and dry wine like finish.
Recommended with rich and Spicy foods.
Drink slightly chilled from a fluted glass.

Pours clear amber with modest head. Aroma mostly of spice and a hint of malt. Flavor wasn’t complex my any means- a nice spicy backbone but lacking significant character or body. Lively carbonation and slightly thin mouthfeel.

courtesy of oteyj. amber coloration, lively carbonation, ok head. aroma is uneventful, smells essentially like a typical low grade beer with a bit more citrus and floral notes. flavor is ok, drinkable with some spice and malt. ok mouthfeel. certainly unique, but nothing even remotely earth-shattering. decent overall.

Bottle. Caramel colored brew with no head. Honey sweet aroma with a touch of yeast. Interesting. The flavor, however, is fairly bland. With just a touch of grain flavor and yeast being the only discernable tastes. A hint of sweetness also. Wet medium mouth feel. Boring really.

Poured a gold color; a bit cloudy. Has a sweet floral aroma along with a sweet taste that kind of overpowers the malt. Not much head. A strange tasting beer. Probably not something I would buy for myself.

500 ml. Hazy, beautiful burnt orange with a two-finger cap that lasts well. Slight aroma of grassy honey and caramel, then later some peat. Flavor is oddly back and forth from earthy-spicy caramel apple to dryish floral herbs. The floral component shows up more in the aftertaste. Near-medium body is smooth, dryish, and a bit tingly. This unique brew is well-crafted.

500 ml bottle from World Market. Dark honey color. Small off white head. Nice lacing. Hint of spice in the aroma. Beautiful looking beer. Flavor is lacking anything specific, just a little sourness. Very mellow, maybe feels a bit watery. Tried this with my wife, Heather. Overall enjoyable, but was hoping for a little more.

Bottle @ YNWA, Kolding.
Light hazy golden with a small creamy white head. Aroma is packed with heather, light hay and a little wine gums. Okay mouthfeel. Flavour is sweet, light chewy, lots of heather and a bit of tartness in the finish.

Single bottle from Total Wine in Jacksonville, Fla. Pours a hazy gold color with a light head. Aroma is a bit floral and some malt notes. Taste is grainy and has a dry finish. Nice drink.
