The aroma was slightly spicey, with light malt with floral undertones. The flavor was spice and some sweet malt. The palate was refreshing and the finish, clean. emacgee (1864), Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Oct 22, 2007 Pours a pretty translucent copper amber with a medium white frothy head. The aroma is sweet, caramel, and herbs. The flavor is fairly sweet, not too much substance to it. An earthy herbal character, some caramel. Fairly light and easy to drink. A pleasant beer, definitely better than the Grozet. AR (422), Georgia, USA
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Oct 20, 2007 The best thing about this beer is the historic aspects of the recipe. The beer itself is ok, but not really anything special. Taste is actually rather bland. MarkoR (224), Toronto, Ontario, Canada

| 1.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 2/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 6/20 | Oct 6, 2007 I don’t really know what heather tastes or smells like, so I wasn’t sure what to expect from this beer. And it didn’t really taste like anything unusual...it was just kind of generic, not great, beer.
Appearance was rather pale, with just a touch of white head. Aroma was pretty minimal. Flavor was a bit cerealy, but also very subtle. Mouthfeel was a bit watery.
Far from the best beer I’ve had in recent memory. joohefner (380), Isla Vista, California, USA

| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Oct 5, 2007 Dark orange colored, slightly hazy appearance. Little thick white head. Interesting aroma with spices and herbs, even some whiskey-oaky tone comes up. Fruits and some honey also in sweet aroma, also some radlery-lemon here, complex aroma indeed. Medium bodied. Flavor is also somehow sour with this fruity-herbal touch, aftertaste dries with still this sour herbal-caramel biting. Some metal and lemon in aftertaste also. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Oct 3, 2007 A tea colored pour with no head. Aroma is malty and fruity. Flavor is fruit and floral. Malt is barely noticeable. It is a unique and interesting beer. Tasty as well. If this is indeed an ancient recipe then my Scottish forefathers drank well.
