mountainforest (111), Edinburgh, Scotland Jun 18, 2007 Tasted at the 2007 Beer Festival in Edinburgh Scotland. Good. Refreshing. Amber. Floral and spicy. Plenty of malt to balance. Jayb0 (750), Cherry Hill, New Jersey, USA Jun 18, 2007 I have no idea what sweet gale is but the odd ingredients pay dividends in this beer. Very enjoyable. Deeply hazy, invitng amber with small but frothy head. Floral, Honey, malt, with herbal spiciness. Mild carbonation, nice quaff. GG (1612), NorCal, California, USA Jun 15, 2007 NorCal tasting June ’07 - While this was a surprise beer, after a few sips it really started to get that.."Am I done with it yet" feeling. A really thin and watery beer, the nose was really flowery with a sour berry taste. It also had something that I just could’t place my finger on it, almost like a honey-like quality. Nothing worth looking at here in terms of pint sized drinking, because it’s just too damn boring. A half-pint, perhaps just because it’s pretty different. Cybercat (778), Georgia, USA Jun 11, 2007 I got this in a four-pack of historic Scottish beers, which was just too much for me to resist. Aroma is strong, malty, and very pleasant. It pours out an orange-amber, rather than yellowish or brownish, with a thick head. Taste is a tad thin, but pleasantly malty with a nice bitter kick. A refreshing and smooth ale - I can see, or rather taste, why it has lasted for four millennia. BDR (2139), Roseville, Minnesota, USA Jun 9, 2007 An amber pour with sweet honey malt nose. Dry grainy malt body. Smooth finish. cgarvieuk (4159), Edinburgh, Scotland Jun 7, 2007 Updated: Nov 8, 2007bottle at home... Golden orange colour ... Sweet fruity nose ... with honey and pine ... mellow fruit ... quite sweet ... honeyish ... little citric tones ... little pine resins.
Rerate 3.6->3.8 beerinmarch (2781), Alabama, USA Jun 6, 2007 Nose of alcohol, slight scotch note from the herbs and earthiness of it. Sweet up front with a good balance to it, very spicy and dry. Pours cloudy amber with a tall white head. vadersnightcap (80), Scotland Jun 5, 2007 I was veru uneasy with this heather ale, thin and watery and whatever flavour there is does not do it much favours. Grassy, leathery and very watery. Dont like the Lord of the Rings style lable either
