Commercial Description:
Bottle: Filtered
Brewed in Scotland since 2000 B.C. heather ale is probably the oldest style of ale still produced in the world. From an ancient Gaelic recipe for "leann fraoich" (heather ale) it has been revived and reintroduced to the Scottish culture.
Into the boiling bree of malted barley, sweet gale and flowering heather are added, then after cooling slightly the hot ale is poured into a vat of fresh heather flowers where it infuses for an hour before being fermented.
A light amber ale with floral peaty aroma, full malt charachter, a spicy herbal flavour and dry wine like finish.
Recommended with rich and Spicy foods.
Drink slightly chilled from a fluted glass.

Nose of alcohol, slight scotch note from the herbs and earthiness of it. Sweet up front with a good balance to it, very spicy and dry. Pours cloudy amber with a tall white head.

I was veru uneasy with this heather ale, thin and watery and whatever flavour there is does not do it much favours. Grassy, leathery and very watery. Dont like the Lord of the Rings style lable either

Floral aromas with an almost grassiness to the taste. Finishes smooth and dry. Very interesting.

12oz bottle. Orange and clear color. Weird, strange ginger nose, spicy peat and mint as well. Spicy ginger ale flavor, watery and mild over the middle. Light textured cereal grains in the finish, husky and spicy, the ginger thing is weird.

Pours a medium amber gold, has a few white bubbles that leaves a lot of sticky lacing on the glass, earthy and fruit-berry flower fragrance, sweet and malt and aromas, light malt taste with a soft bitterness on the palate, has a faint herbal spice flavor, little sweetness in the sip, has a medium or more dry finish, very faint alcohol as the ale warms, very little carbonation but light on the palate.

Cloudy dark orange / amber. Floral with sweet pleasant malt aroma. Great balance of malts & hops, which made if very smooth start to finish. Notes of spices, herbs, flowers, and honey.
