mtdshn (174), Moline, Illinois, USA Feb 15, 2007 Bottle. Poured a clear yellow with no head. Musty aroma, with some notes of lemongrass and flowers. Very flat mouthfeel, a bit astringent. A very bland ale that’s on the same lines as the worst pilsners. Disappointing. ekstedt (2411), Göteborg, Sweden Feb 14, 2007 Bottle. Dark amber, with thin off-white head. Malty, spicy aroma with hints of flowers and herbs (but different than hop aromas). Smooth mouthfeel, some sweetness, ad really not much bitterness in the finish. OK, interesting, but there are much better ales for half the price. marcisamong (5), Inverness, Scotland does not count Feb 12, 2007 a bit apprehensive at first, worried I would be let down. However, impressed enough to try it again. greenhorn1 (458), Mission Viejo, California, USA Feb 10, 2007 bottle. Poured a dark gold, with minimal to no head. Floral and mild spice nose and flavor. I was expecting something worse, but this went done smooth. Nothing to brag about, but worth trying. Lowe1983 (1029), Fairborn, Ohio, USA Feb 8, 2007 Pours golden/amber color with a white head. Aroma is of heather flowers, spices, and some sweet malts. Huge floral flavor with some spices and a sweet finish. Probably the most floral flavor I’ve had on a beer. Not bad but it’s nothing I would go searching for. molassesfan (201), Raleigh, North Carolina, USA Feb 7, 2007 Pours dark gold with little head to speak of. Malty with a large heather influence in taste and aroma. Palate is balanced but mouthfeel is a bit thick. Dry finish. A nice, if costly, diversion from normal beer. Aquilo (248), California, USA Feb 7, 2007 Honey-colored with some bubbles, but no head. Apple-cinnamon aroma. Malty flavor without much complexity. Finishes smooth and dry. Enjoyable overall. Braudog (3733), Dayton, Ohio, USA Feb 6, 2007 This poured from the 11.2oz bottle with a pleasant warm orange color and a well-former white topping of white bubbles. There’s a nice little flowery aroma that you’d expect from a beer made with heather. The flavors are bolder and brighter than I might expect ... very much flowery, almost mulchy! Herbal and green, I feel like yelling some William Wallace quote. Beauty. (#2687, 2/6/2007)
