Commercial Description:
Bottle: Filtered
Brewed in Scotland since 2000 B.C. heather ale is probably the oldest style of ale still produced in the world. From an ancient Gaelic recipe for "leann fraoich" (heather ale) it has been revived and reintroduced to the Scottish culture.
Into the boiling bree of malted barley, sweet gale and flowering heather are added, then after cooling slightly the hot ale is poured into a vat of fresh heather flowers where it infuses for an hour before being fermented.
A light amber ale with floral peaty aroma, full malt charachter, a spicy herbal flavour and dry wine like finish.
Recommended with rich and Spicy foods.
Drink slightly chilled from a fluted glass.

Pours slightly hazed, pale honey w/ medum semi creamy spattered froth that reduces to thin yet complete lacing very quickly. Aromas of malted flowers and perfume. Light to medium nectar w/ ample residual effers. Flavors are malty w/ complex spices. Citrus, plumbs, unsweetened strawberry, kiwi, pine needles, and florals w/ defined earth. Finish is long w/ malted perfume and has a balanced bittering. An interesting brew indeed.

Really Good Beer. Brewed with Flowers instead of Hops. Costed a preaty penny for an import. But I gotta admit I liked it alot.

Butterscotch and slight citrus aroma. Very low carbonation with cloudy golden appearance. Light and slightly sour, with a promish of refreshment mixed with a lingering sharpness in the back of the throat.

Burnt orange, small off white head. Sour citrus aroma. The flavor is sour instead of bitter, herbal and flowery. Refreshing, easy to drink. Kinda tastes like 7-up. By the end I was sick of it.

Poured a clear, grapefruit like color with a thin, whispy white head. Interesting and unique floral aroma a little like incense. Initial flavor is malty, sweet but also a tad soapy. Finish was watery and sweet with floral notes and honey. Pleasant and refreshing for the most part.

33 cl bottle, Shelburne. Cloudy yellow pour. Malty floral aroma. spicy ginger at the back of the throat. Sharp but quick finish, very refreshing, close to a ginger-beer.

330ml bottle pours a orange-yellow colour with an aroma of heather and malt. Taste is quite an experience. Malty at first with a bit of sourness, some strong floral notes give way to a spicy, herbal sensation on the palate, which lingers for a bit. Ends with some earthy herbal flavors and spice, semi-sweet malt lingering. Different, traditional. Glad I bought a four pack.

Pours a pale yellow with a nice white head which sticks around for a while. A nice, slightly sour aroma, floral. A rather astringent taste, light, mild malting and floral "hopping" from the Heather. Carbonation is appropriate. A very drinkable beer, a great alternative to American light beers.
