MortenGrud (6), Århus, Denmark does not count Jun 3, 2006 Has a very recognizable scent, although I can’t figure out what it is. Quite annoying, actually :) Aroma is sweet, sour in a refreshing way, reminds you of some sorts of dessert berries. Colour is light amber, clear. Light head. Flavour: Heather (surprise!), sweet, spicy, slightly sour, slightly bitter. Medium body, medium texture, average carbonation, nice bitter finish. HazelRah (276), Summerland, British Columbia, Canada May 31, 2006 Pours a tinted orange. Orange peel, coriander, mint flavours. Herbal yet smooth. bubbleflubber (885), Collinsville, Virginia, USA May 30, 2006 Orange haze into the glass... no head and very little lace. Aromas of dough and yeast, with some earth tones mixed in. Interesting flavors present... Definite floral notes with spices. Mouthfeel is definitely dry and short-lived. It does feel somewhat crisp, without being watery, but it’s definitely a special occasion brew. It’s earned enough in the complexity dept., but really deserves to be paired with an appropriate meal. DuffMan (2719), the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, Canada May 29, 2006 Hazy orange amber. Earthy aroma, elements of hay and honey. I’m getting absolutely none of the flowery/spicy notes that others have described. Very malty palate, again earthy with a subtle ginger spice note every now and then, but generally just malty. I’m wondering whether this has sat on the shelf for many months and lost some of its character, as I failed to appreciate any of the "wine-like" or floral elements that have been described by the brewer and by other raters. Taste is very weak, nothing distinctive at all. Disappointing. henrik (41), Århus, Denmark May 24, 2006 Clear amber or yellow. Head quickly disappearing. Characteristic but undescernable aroma -- perhaps these small artificial berries that is sometimes put on top of deserts? When you taste it though, the heather is clear. When you hail from west jutland, you know the smell of the heath. The flavour is spicy and a wee bit sour. Interesting, but a bit one dimensional. Miguel (1181), Saint-Ours, Quebec, Canada May 22, 2006 Robe blonde très claire sans mousse. Arômes légers de malt. Saveurs florales et fruités de malt. kimcgolf (824), Dacula, Georgia, USA May 21, 2006 Pours to a hazy copper, with very thin white head and minimal lacing. Very strong floral, perfumy aroma. Initial tastes were of floral. At mid-glass, taste of malt and spices crept in, and I even detected hints of alcohol. Although I enjoyed the flavor, the finish came on very quickly, and was much too dry for my tastes.
I have to say that this beer is much better than the other product of their’s that I’ve had....Alba Scot’s Pine Ale. However, I’ll stick to hops in my beer, and leave the heather to beautify the Scottish countryside.
