Commercial Description:
Bottle: Filtered
Brewed in Scotland since 2000 B.C. heather ale is probably the oldest style of ale still produced in the world. From an ancient Gaelic recipe for "leann fraoich" (heather ale) it has been revived and reintroduced to the Scottish culture.
Into the boiling bree of malted barley, sweet gale and flowering heather are added, then after cooling slightly the hot ale is poured into a vat of fresh heather flowers where it infuses for an hour before being fermented.
A light amber ale with floral peaty aroma, full malt charachter, a spicy herbal flavour and dry wine like finish.
Recommended with rich and Spicy foods.
Drink slightly chilled from a fluted glass.

Bottled. Floral, cookie and licorice aroma. Hazy, yellow color, small white head, fair lace. Sweet malty flavor, floral - anis like - and cookie, light dry. Not bad but I’m not convinced.

Bottle at Haket in Gothenburg, Sweden. The last bottles were sold April 8.
Light yellow color, small non-lasting white head. Sweet scent from honey and heather. Pretty thin sweet taste with very low bitterness. Heather and sweet aftertaste.

Smells pretty nice. Was told this was a Scottish ale, what makes it traditional? A dry finish is noticeable, and this isn’t too malty. I could drink this again if I had to.

eh. herby to say the least. light on the aroma and color. i dont about a white wine finish but i noticed some spice. fuck this beer 5% and all that.

Bottle: Pours hazy brownish yellow with a thin bubbly off white head. Aroma is predominantly floral with a sweet honey, and earthy maltiness. Flavour is a little flat for me, mostly flowery tasting and slightly fruity, with a dry bitterness to the finish.

Pours hazy orange with a minimal white head. Aroma of citrus, sweet malts, floral and herbally notes. Flavor is smooth, carbonated, citrusy, malty, dry finish, decent brew, not a fan of this style, but this isn’t bad

Pours a hazy orange. Floral aromas, softly carbonated, mild taste of what I’m assuming is heather, as a matter of fact other than the heather there is not alot going on here. Is this stuff kegged? Maybe it’s better that way.

Not really a whole lot going on here. Light herbal aroma. Flavor is very mild with a light herbal malt flavor. Nothing offensive in the beer, but also not really a whole lot to be desired.
