Commercial Description:
Bottle: Filtered
Brewed in Scotland since 2000 B.C. heather ale is probably the oldest style of ale still produced in the world. From an ancient Gaelic recipe for "leann fraoich" (heather ale) it has been revived and reintroduced to the Scottish culture.
Into the boiling bree of malted barley, sweet gale and flowering heather are added, then after cooling slightly the hot ale is poured into a vat of fresh heather flowers where it infuses for an hour before being fermented.
A light amber ale with floral peaty aroma, full malt charachter, a spicy herbal flavour and dry wine like finish.
Recommended with rich and Spicy foods.
Drink slightly chilled from a fluted glass.

Not really a whole lot going on here. Light herbal aroma. Flavor is very mild with a light herbal malt flavor. Nothing offensive in the beer, but also not really a whole lot to be desired.

Loved that beer. Had it a few times and it’s not possible to have it anymore in Quebec. This was a really tasty beer. Taste like strong flowers. Loved it. Re-rate the beer. Sorry, it’s going lower. I’ve tried it again in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, UK. from a bottle. I was really disapointed. Less flavors than before. Low carbonation, no head.

Nice golden body with good cloudiness. good pines, peat, heather and cardamon. Excellent spices, hops, cardamon, and pine in the body. Very clean ending.

330ml bottle poured a hazy gold with a small, quickly dissapating white head. Aroma was floral, carmel and earthy. Palate was light bodied. Flavors of carmel, flowers, and a faint smokiness with a lingering floral finish.

Orange pour with some head that lingered. Sweet spicy scent. Warm taste with a bit of sourness. Some fruit and spice, maybe cinamon. Aftertaste is warming and lingers. Suprisingly good, I wasn’t expecting much from the "Great ales of Scotland" giftpack but have been impressed by all.

Beer looks like a medium-dark apple juice with a small, off-white, frothy, mostly and quickly diminishing head. The aroma is alluring—sweet, floral and fruity. It’s malty with moderate notes of sweet toasted grain and light caramel; yeasty with a trace note of sharp cheese; and full of moderately weighty miscellaneous notes of apple, lavendar, honey, white grape, and light notes of cinnamon, Vitamin B and straw. The flavor is moderately sweet, lightly bitter and moderately acidic with a moderately long, moderately acidic/tangy finish. The body is light, the texture is watery and the carbonation is lively.
