julrey (32), Indianapolis, Indiana, USA Dec 9, 2005 Pours a cloudy straw hue with fluffy one finger buttermilk head and mild carbonation.
Lemony floral nose with hints of coriander, maybe cinnamon.
Very floral taste with cinnamony finish. A little hop presence buried deep in the mix. Well blended.
Mouthfeel is of medium density with light carbonation. I got a strange burning sensation on my lips, although I couldn’t tell whether that was coming from the beer or some other factor. I wasn’t eating at the time so aside from the glass I was using, I’m not sure where else this could have come from.
I could see this making a good session beer - not too strong either tastewise or in terms of alcohol content. beervana (781), Libertyville, Illinois, USA Dec 7, 2005 500 mL brown bottle purchased from Home Service Beer Beverage Discount Center, Glenview, NY. Bottled dated 10/05 and consumed expired beer on 11/05. Hazy light brown ale having no discernable head. Light carbonation. Light sweet malt aroma. Light-to-medium bodied ale that starts with a light sweet malt and honey flavors. Finishes with light dryness and bitterness. Though expired, no off-flavors detected. A rather thin and watery bland tasting beer that resembles a mead. tlitt2 (58), Lexington, Kentucky, USA Dec 5, 2005 Pours a light orange hue. Slight carbonation with a tiny, but creamy white head. Floral is a good word for the aroma. Taste is first sweet like honey, then finishes nicely dry. Flavors of grass, herbs, and other earthy things come to mind. Thought this was nicely balanced. Flavors really expressed nicely as the beer reached closer to room temperature. UnsofistaCat (222), Garden City, Michigan, USA Dec 5, 2005 Updated: Dec 24, 2005 Orange hue with out a real head. Creamy lace. Nose is kind of weird and hard to explain. Honey, compost box full of flowers? Not very carbonated at all. Subtle flavoring of honey, slight frozen orange juice and rotten-flower infused malt. All of this might sound over the top or even nasty, but it really isn’t. A tiny bit tart too. It’s a very delicate beer and actually easy to drink. Strangely tasty for reasons I can’t explain. Wonder what this would be like on tap? If there was ever a beer that has the possibility to cause some kind of weird, allergic reaction, this is it. I’m gonna go check for hives and crack another open.
Rerate: I have to admit, once the novelty wares off, this doesn’t satisfy...at all. lowering score accordingly.
Ok...rerate again...I absolutely hate this beer.... Palidor19 (1750), Brandon, Florida, USA Dec 3, 2005 Quite interesting, pours a nice rich brown, smell is very light with mild fruit, taste also has a mild flavoring, of honey and brewed ice tea. Mild fruit notes.
Quite nice. fluids (364), USA Dec 3, 2005 No head. Light bronze color. Floral malty flavor with a touch of cinnamon. It has some interesting bittnerness that appears and dissappears quickly. johninmelb (688), Bristol, Gloucestershire, England Dec 2, 2005 Great nose with sultanas, raisins, a bit of doughiness. A bit like a mince pie. Looks boring. Flavour is kind of floral and fruity but with a slightly astringent finish. That said, this rounds out into a kind of cookie flavour that redeems it. Complex and interesting. frankenkitty (1900), Oak Lawn, Illinois, USA Nov 30, 2005 Poured a wheatish/copper with a slight head and a ton of protien globs hovering and dancing like a holiday snowglobe. Interesting aromas with beef broth, baby powder and floral notes over bread dough. Mildly sour with a flowery flavor of violets within a strong, wheat base. Buttery mouthfeel, but not off-putting. I like.
