Smells sweet, and tastes sweeter, but not overpoweringly so. Certainly reminiscent of heather fields. (June 8, 2004 Addition): Now that I've had this again... its taste is much more up front this time. I noticed the wonderful spices right up front; it really added a lot. The color was a beautiful dark yellow. I enjoyed it much more the second time around. Not sure if that's a bottle vs tap issue or just being better adjusted to beer. Small rapidly dissipating white head. Mildly tart, mildly spicy aroma. Begins with a bitter juiciness followed by a drier light hops flavor. I can find little malt flavor here, though maybe some on finish as it warms, it is lightly sweet with a tiny nip of alcohol. Flavors of heather, I would imagine, as well as a flowery herbal essence. Begins very spritzy but softens up as it breathes. I’d be much more impressed if thisnt wasnt filtered. gnoff (3574), Göteborg, Sweden

Flowery aroma of Goldings and mild malt. Flavours of apple, wood and perfume. Finishes a tad bitter. A little weak in flavour and alcohol. FatPhil (3483), Espoo, Finland

Bold orange, thin head. Spicy aroma. Also a spicy taste, like Abbeye de Rocs - very malty. Almost sage-like stuffing taste. Maybe a little sweet, but thoroughly tasty. Fin (3462), Merton, Oxfordshire, England
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 20, 2007 Bottle, Had this in a rather nice ceramicy old fashioned Fraoch mug/cup that I picked up with a bottle of Fraoch a few years ago, so unfortunately the colour is a bit of a mystery to me. Honey on the nose along with defiante floral notes. Tasted a little floral, some honey, and garden herbs. A good beer and despite having had this frequently it still remains a very interesting beer. larsniclas (3390), Gothenburg, Sweden

Hazy golden with a small white head.
Pine-needles and resin; sweet and flavour from berries.
To spicy to be a favorite of mine.
