Chewy maltiness drinking way beyond its strength, a bit like a full-bodied Biere Du garde. Revolting. Nose becoming more sappy and perfumey as it warms. No, it’s waxy, leathery and resinous and I just don’t like it. Where’s the flowers? Beershine (2754), Traipsing Around, Cambodia

Smell of honey, flowers, and herbs. The Fraoch Heather Ale is like drinking the forest. Even if it is on the thin side, I believe it might be one of my favorite of the Heather beers. It is intensely herbal and wholly unique. Slight camphor taste. Dry and astringent. It’s also light and quaffable. michael-pollack (2749), King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, USA
| 1.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 3/5 | 3/10 | 3/5 | 6/20 | Dec 31, 2008 330ml Bottle: Faint aroma of malts, chocolate and evergreen. Poured golden/amber/yellow in color with a small white head that diminished into a film that lasted throughout. Hazy. Sparkling. Flavor is dull. Tastes of slight peat, light chocolate, malts, and bit of sugar. Medium body. Average texture. Average carbonation. Slightly chocolate malt finish. Really boring. Almost no flavor to this beer. | 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Jul 27, 2003 Lightish amber color, little head, slightly syrupy appearance. Aroma suggests that I've walked into a National Trust giftshop, floral and perfumy. Flavor and not especially interesting palate, even watery. Slightly hazy. Not as bad as the sum of its parts. (gravity pour at 2003 Kent Beer Festival) harlequinn (2745), Tacoma, Washington, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Sep 26, 2003 This is the most unique ale I think I have ever had. Lots of sweet spices in the aroma and taste, cinnamon, nutmeg, perhaps some clover honey, but lots of ginger, almost a ginger ale like quality to this one. Strong wine like mouthfeel that is very dry in the finish. IrishBoy (2726), Bakersfield, California, USA

Nose is spicy with floral and caramel notes and a background hint of grassy hops and caramel. Flavor is light bitterness, herbally smoothing to my throat, and some light caramel. Different! maniac (2697), Richmond, Virginia, USA
