Commercial Description:
Bottle: Filtered
Brewed in Scotland since 2000 B.C. heather ale is probably the oldest style of ale still produced in the world. From an ancient Gaelic recipe for "leann fraoich" (heather ale) it has been revived and reintroduced to the Scottish culture.
Into the boiling bree of malted barley, sweet gale and flowering heather are added, then after cooling slightly the hot ale is poured into a vat of fresh heather flowers where it infuses for an hour before being fermented.
A light amber ale with floral peaty aroma, full malt charachter, a spicy herbal flavour and dry wine like finish.
Recommended with rich and Spicy foods.
Drink slightly chilled from a fluted glass.

Bottle: Nice appearance.....dark amber with an of white head. Aromas of caramel, but there’s some sort of salty aroma here I can’t quite place. Taste is malty, sweet, but afterwards, I can taste Harvey’s gravy. Very strange.

A friend of mine had been looking for this beer for several years, and he looked like the happiest guy alive when i brought him this. Light amber coloured, medium white head. Flowery aroma. Sweet malty flavour, flowery notes are still present. Very refreshing. Nice brew.

Pours hazy dark orangish golden with a thin, off-white head. Aroma of flowers, candied pine sap, heather, and lavender. Mouthfeel is thin bodied and dry with very soft carbonation.

Very earthy and mossy. I can’t emphasize enough how ’earthy’ this tastes and it works. Very unique and worth seeking out.

interesting, almost like an alcoholic tea... pretty easy on the tounge, leaves a bit of an aftertaste, overall, good, just not my style I guess.

Bottle. Pale orange colour with a slim off-white head. Spicey, fruity and malty aroma. Wierd taste: very herby (is that heather flavour is like?), medicinal, sweet, honey, a touch of bitterness in the finish. Medium bodied, interesting beer; I don’t like it.

Bottle. Pours with very little carbonation over a coppery body. Aromas are herbal with an apple juice backbone. Flavor is apple with medicinal herbs. Not really my cup of tea... or ale...
