Commercial Description:
Bottle: Filtered
Brewed in Scotland since 2000 B.C. heather ale is probably the oldest style of ale still produced in the world. From an ancient Gaelic recipe for "leann fraoich" (heather ale) it has been revived and reintroduced to the Scottish culture.
Into the boiling bree of malted barley, sweet gale and flowering heather are added, then after cooling slightly the hot ale is poured into a vat of fresh heather flowers where it infuses for an hour before being fermented.
A light amber ale with floral peaty aroma, full malt charachter, a spicy herbal flavour and dry wine like finish.
Recommended with rich and Spicy foods.
Drink slightly chilled from a fluted glass.

Poured a cloudy golden color with a wispy off white head. Pleasant floral aroma along with some spice and some general earthy aromas. Pretty bland flavor, up front is an odd flavor that I can’t put my finger on, followed by some mild bitterness. Average body. I probably won’t drink again.

Bright amber w/ thick, creamy pale tan foam. Flower, herbal, spicy, unmistakably heather aroma w/ underlying notes of dark honey, caramel, & peat. Medium, oily feel. Sweet, malty, spicy flavour w/ a slightly dry, vinous finish.

Pours slightly hazed, pale honey w/ medum semi creamy spattered froth that reduces to thin yet complete lacing very quickly. Aromas of malted flowers and perfume. Light to medium nectar w/ ample residual effers. Flavors are malty w/ complex spices. Citrus, plumbs, unsweetened strawberry, kiwi, pine needles, and florals w/ defined earth. Finish is long w/ malted perfume and has a balanced bittering. An interesting brew indeed.

I guess I could see that some people might like this one, but its not for me. A nice color. A little head that quickly disappears. Very dry. Starts alright, but the finish is not something I can appreciate.

big floral notes in the aroma, kinda like rose water. flavour is much the same. It definitely does a good job being what it is, but i dont like the floral flavour.

Bottled 50cl. Fruity spicy aroma with gooseberry, hops, butter, caramel, honey and heather showing up. Very smooth palate. Good hop profile in the tatse. Peanuts and honey sneaking in. Hints of gooseberry. Complex. Decent bitterness. Subtle reminiscence of heather in the finish. Good. I like the taste better than the nose.
