Commercial Description:
Bottle: Filtered
Brewed in Scotland since 2000 B.C. heather ale is probably the oldest style of ale still produced in the world. From an ancient Gaelic recipe for "leann fraoich" (heather ale) it has been revived and reintroduced to the Scottish culture.
Into the boiling bree of malted barley, sweet gale and flowering heather are added, then after cooling slightly the hot ale is poured into a vat of fresh heather flowers where it infuses for an hour before being fermented.
A light amber ale with floral peaty aroma, full malt charachter, a spicy herbal flavour and dry wine like finish.
Recommended with rich and Spicy foods.
Drink slightly chilled from a fluted glass.

Thin white head. Light brown, see through. Malty nose, slightly sweet. Flavor is interesting. Has bitterness, but it is more like the kind of bitterness you get from exotic cabbage. Flavor is smooth and straw-like, with a nice finish. Interesting beer.

330ml bottle. Cloudy and thick light brown color. Full of sediment. Sweet with a mild herbal finish. Tastes mildly of honey. Very easy drinking. I had held this beer in higher regard in previous samplings, maybe this bottle is a little past it’s prime.

Slightly hazed, orange hue. Small sticky off white head. Mealy, malt nose. I really enjoy this heather brew. Slight smokiness, great herbal flavor, winey, and a very pleasant sweetness that rounds this out. I spose some could see it as 1 dimensional, but I feel it rocks.

Poured a nice hazy gold. Nice sweet aroma and a sweet, honied taste. Interesting ale ... and good.

golden, cloudy color, short-lived head. i found the aroma reminicent of tomato sauce. it is not very mouth-filling, and a bit too sweet in the aftertaste, but overall, an interesting attempt.

Bottled. Wheat, malt, some meak berries in the aroma. Taste full and enjoyable, very balanced. Hoppy with heather. Hazy brown/orange, huge thick-bubbled white head.

I really enjoyed the refreshing taste of this beer. It is very flowery and it went down fairly smooth.
