Commercial Description:
Bottle: Filtered
Brewed in Scotland since 2000 B.C. heather ale is probably the oldest style of ale still produced in the world. From an ancient Gaelic recipe for "leann fraoich" (heather ale) it has been revived and reintroduced to the Scottish culture.
Into the boiling bree of malted barley, sweet gale and flowering heather are added, then after cooling slightly the hot ale is poured into a vat of fresh heather flowers where it infuses for an hour before being fermented.
A light amber ale with floral peaty aroma, full malt charachter, a spicy herbal flavour and dry wine like finish.
Recommended with rich and Spicy foods.
Drink slightly chilled from a fluted glass.

Unique floral aroma and flavor. Personally, i think i like the aroma better than the taste. Overall, a very different but pretty good beer.

Couldn’t find any attraction to this one. Actually expected a lot more than what was delivered. From the bottle. Pours a clear, golden bronze with no head and alarmingly big bubbles that clung firmly to the side giving it the appearance of lucozade. Very distant aroma of wild heather, rusted car bodies and wood. In the mouth it’s quite thin and seemingly watery with a heady fizz to it. Flavour has again distant heather notes with some light chamomile, dull malts, oak, stale hops and dried flower petals. Quite dull, nothing exciting yet it seems quite soothing. Finish has a tinge of salt and honey with more dried herbs set to linger just long enough to dry it out. Overall it wasn’t bad, but it just doesn’t sit right on the palate and lacks the feel of a good traditional Ale. (33cL, Morrison’s, Bayswater, London)

Good head on misty orange/gold ale meek carbonation.Aroma malty, sweet scent, mild honey like.Flavour sharp really hangs on,heather has a wild stimulating pineapple/apricot taste, very decent ale in body.It has a dryness to it which is almost perfect at the finish and the taste is sharp and lasting .

Honey colored body with a nice soapy white head that never quite leaves the top of the brew. Aroma is subtle caramel malt and a bit of citrus. Flavor isn’t at all aggressive, but is a bit earthy, floral, yeasty, and herbal. Pretty creamy mouthfeel that was a bit unexpected. Not a bad beer.

The aroma has a distinctive floral character and the color is a golden with a white head. The flavor is much like that of a flower petal, somewhat characteristic of edible orchids. This is balanced with some maltiness and a bit of hoppish spiciness. The finish is smooth.

Crushed with Jakebra. This is a total Fraoch of a beer. Honey or something (heather?) on the nose or something. Fruity, sweet flavor and gives a nice, dry finish. Pretty aight.

pours cloudy amber-orange with a small white head. smell is faint, floral, grain, some sweetness, and a bit of fruit. taste is spice, oily, sweet, herbs, malts this beer is very smooth and goes down easily, a flavor I’ve never really had before but will definitely have again.
