Commercial Description:
Bottle: Filtered
Brewed in Scotland since 2000 B.C. heather ale is probably the oldest style of ale still produced in the world. From an ancient Gaelic recipe for "leann fraoich" (heather ale) it has been revived and reintroduced to the Scottish culture.
Into the boiling bree of malted barley, sweet gale and flowering heather are added, then after cooling slightly the hot ale is poured into a vat of fresh heather flowers where it infuses for an hour before being fermented.
A light amber ale with floral peaty aroma, full malt charachter, a spicy herbal flavour and dry wine like finish.
Recommended with rich and Spicy foods.
Drink slightly chilled from a fluted glass.

has a citrus malt type aroma, has a fresh crisp floral taste, body seemed a bit thin, but pretty decent.

Bottle. Amber brown with no head. Smells of earthy spices... some dried flowers, some dirt, some slightly cinnamonlike aroma that isn’t quite cinnamon. Flavor... ooh it’s a strange one. A bit of earthiness to it as well. Dirtiness, some dried flowers, slight pepper- kinda like "poor-man’s pepper" in the finish. Decent tasting, but not something I’m crazy about. Definitely gets a point for originality and for bring back an old style that nobody else does. Addendum: the further into the glass i get, the more I enjoy it.

Pours golden color with white head that quickly disappears. Very floral aroma. Flavor is herbal, flowery and spicy. I’m getting some cinnamon and citrus also. Medium body with lively carbonation. I enjoyed this one.

Pours with a medium fluffy white head and a hazy blonde color. Aroma is spicy with some ginger and lots of floral notes with just a touch of rubbing alcohol. Flavor is like the aroma very strong with a spicy ginger, some slight grainy maltiness, and a bit of alcohol. I’d have thought this was stronger than what it was with as much alcohol seems to show through but I like it none the less. The flavor is very herbal, almost like a very good herbal tea. The palate is soft; this is a very nice beer to drink.
