Commercial Description:
Bottle: Filtered
Brewed in Scotland since 2000 B.C. heather ale is probably the oldest style of ale still produced in the world. From an ancient Gaelic recipe for "leann fraoich" (heather ale) it has been revived and reintroduced to the Scottish culture.
Into the boiling bree of malted barley, sweet gale and flowering heather are added, then after cooling slightly the hot ale is poured into a vat of fresh heather flowers where it infuses for an hour before being fermented.
A light amber ale with floral peaty aroma, full malt charachter, a spicy herbal flavour and dry wine like finish.
Recommended with rich and Spicy foods.
Drink slightly chilled from a fluted glass.

Poured a clear, grapefruit like color with a thin, whispy white head. Interesting and unique floral aroma a little like incense. Initial flavor is malty, sweet but also a tad soapy. Finish was watery and sweet with floral notes and honey. Pleasant and refreshing for the most part.

Pours golden color with white head that quickly disappears. Very floral aroma. Flavor is herbal, flowery and spicy. I’m getting some cinnamon and citrus also. Medium body with lively carbonation. I enjoyed this one.

Orange haze into the glass... no head and very little lace. Aromas of dough and yeast, with some earth tones mixed in. Interesting flavors present... Definite floral notes with spices. Mouthfeel is definitely dry and short-lived. It does feel somewhat crisp, without being watery, but it’s definitely a special occasion brew. It’s earned enough in the complexity dept., but really deserves to be paired with an appropriate meal.

Bright slight clear orange brew, nice off white cap with good retention and lots of ropy lacing. The aroma was strong, herbal , spcy, floral, a bit Christmasy and peat moss. The taste seems fresh with lots of spice...in fact the flavour is mainly spice with orange peel, pepper and no alcohol at all. Comes across a bit too carbonated and foamy...a touch watery. Finishes with an aftertaste very similar to the flavour.

Pours with a medium fluffy white head and a hazy blonde color. Aroma is spicy with some ginger and lots of floral notes with just a touch of rubbing alcohol. Flavor is like the aroma very strong with a spicy ginger, some slight grainy maltiness, and a bit of alcohol. I’d have thought this was stronger than what it was with as much alcohol seems to show through but I like it none the less. The flavor is very herbal, almost like a very good herbal tea. The palate is soft; this is a very nice beer to drink.

Bottle. Poured hazy yellow with a lasting medium white head. Slight floral aroma. Medium body with a malty backbone and cittusy notes. Light finish but rather pleasing withal. Is this what ale was like before hops?
