Commercial Description:
Bottle: Filtered
Brewed in Scotland since 2000 B.C. heather ale is probably the oldest style of ale still produced in the world. From an ancient Gaelic recipe for "leann fraoich" (heather ale) it has been revived and reintroduced to the Scottish culture.
Into the boiling bree of malted barley, sweet gale and flowering heather are added, then after cooling slightly the hot ale is poured into a vat of fresh heather flowers where it infuses for an hour before being fermented.
A light amber ale with floral peaty aroma, full malt charachter, a spicy herbal flavour and dry wine like finish.
Recommended with rich and Spicy foods.
Drink slightly chilled from a fluted glass.

A hazy yellow/golden colored beer, with a nice white head. The aroma of flowers, some malts, hops, a little fruits and spices. The taste of spices like pepper and clove, fruits like orange and citrus. It’s bitter and warming. The aftertaste is also bitter and it stays warm/burning for awhile.

I really liked this brew. Pours a hazy golden color. The taste is not quite something I can put my finger on so I am assuming that it’s the heather flowers. Very unique, but very good for something different. I can be rather adventerous in my tates sometimes and this beer seemed to really hit the spot. Not something to drink on a regular basis, but good nonetheless.

Aroma - This is the best smelling beer I’ve ever encountered. Other beers smell good, but this one is unique and glorious. It smells like the spices in sausage, flowers, evergreens, most of all, like Thomas Hardy’s Egdon Heath. Appearance - clear pumpkin with moderate white head taste - pine, heath, slightly bitter, bitterness similar to hops, but with more warmth on the back of the tongue palate - thin, watery

Dark yeallow color with a large but quickly disappearing offwhite head. Aroma: Flowers, spices, fruit, malt. Taste: the spicy, flowery taste from heather is dominant. High carbonation. I like it really much but you have to like heather to like it.

Bottle pour. The aroma was very floral with a hint or two of malt.Dark amber orange color with a decent white head.Flavor was very much like the nose, bitter but not harsh, very mellow with a medium carbonation and very easy to drink.I liked this and would not hesitate to drink again.

This is not my beer type, as I generally prefer darker and stronger beers, but I found it quite pleasant, much like a very good pale ale. The taste is rather sweet.

this style is completely caught me off gaurd, compareing it to a traditonal ale has me baffled,I don,t think it belongs in with hair of the dog adam,or traquair jacobite, they are to differnt ends of the spectrum, just because it is a very old style dosen’t make them fall in to the same catagory that being said. pours a golden with a froty off white head with aromas are off florals and malts taste is of the same with a dry wine like finish reminds me of a wild ale or saison this is one of the oldest styles they have been brewing this with heather flowers for more than 2000 years before christ quite smooth and very drinkable
