Ordinarily I have trouble straying outside the Reinheitsgebot - I love the idea of otherly flavored brews but usually am disappointed. This time I was pleasantly surprised - the botanical flavours include hops, but something else, like newly mown alfalfa - not offputting at all. Andrew196 (1091), Katy, Texas, USA

Color is light orange with very low carbonation and head. Taste is rich, sweet and spicy. It all starts with a medium body that goes down with a creamy sweet malt feel. Finish comes on with a sweet malt flavor backed by a light bitterness and a slight spicy feel. This is a tasty full flavored beer. berkshirejohn (1826), Bracknell, Berkshire, England

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Sep 8, 2007 Mild, but has a slight edge on the tongue. It is brewed using heather flowers and scottish malt, so you get a light petal texture/flavor across the palate. This is an interesting beer to ponder and enjoy with it’s unique characteristics. theisti (1678), Leawood, Kansas, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | May 18, 2009 11.2 fl oz royal. Best before Oct 2007 notched on the label. Pour is hazed orange golden with a bunch of floaties, and a one inch light tan head. Aroma of malty, roasty earthiness - the moss peat as expected. Nice herbal floral notes. Really soft and inviting nose. Taste is the musty, earthy, peaty, slightly sweet floral of the nose. There is also a bit of butterscotch citrus sweetness present. Really layered flavors, nicely integrated. Palate is medium, drying, yet coats the mouth pleasantly. This really attacked the palate despite the lower abv. Interesting and enjoyable beer. I need to grab a fresher bottle and see what the age did to this. Davinci (296), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 29, 2008 Pours clear honeyish color with no head, but a stream of bubbles rising from the bottom. Sweet floral honey nose with some soured barley and maybe grapeish aromas. There is a bit of pilsner character in the nose as well. Very soft onset, slightly diluted floral malts, heather, jasmine, and lilac flavors. Very mild balanced sweetness. Tastes like a lush grove in the spring. This is a nice champagney beer which seems under rated in my opinion. posikyle (165), Alabama, USA

Aroma is very floral. Flavor is floral with some malts, and some raisins (?), very velvety. If Mel Torme’s voice was a beer, this would be it. Definitely wold buy again.
