Commercial Description:
Bottle: Filtered
Brewed in Scotland since 2000 B.C. heather ale is probably the oldest style of ale still produced in the world. From an ancient Gaelic recipe for "leann fraoich" (heather ale) it has been revived and reintroduced to the Scottish culture.
Into the boiling bree of malted barley, sweet gale and flowering heather are added, then after cooling slightly the hot ale is poured into a vat of fresh heather flowers where it infuses for an hour before being fermented.
A light amber ale with floral peaty aroma, full malt charachter, a spicy herbal flavour and dry wine like finish.
Recommended with rich and Spicy foods.
Drink slightly chilled from a fluted glass.

This is the easiest of the Heather Ales to get in my area. It pours out a nice golden color with a nice light tan head. A nice hops aroma to it and other aromas that might be the heather. Intesting body to it, slightly fizzy due to the clearly evident higher level of carbination. Seems a bit cloudy, but it may be due to that.

Hazy orange color with a medium head. It has a floral aroma with some malt. Sweet with mild spice flavor and a smooth clean palate. I was not expecting it to be as good as it was as I recieved it in a sampler pack as a gift and my experience with other sample pack gift sets haven’t been pleasant.

Although hopless, the finish is dry, nice and the beer is a refreshing escape from the ordianry. Obviously a very floral aroma. Quite unique and I respect that.

This brew poured a small sized head of fine to medium sized off white bubbles. It has a cloudy amber brown body with some carbonation clinging to the side of the glass. It had a smooth malty initial taste with some, but not much tang to the finish. It was very smooth with a good full bodied flavor.

Poured a copper color with a small white head and nice lacing. Floral hoppy, fruity aroma. Caramel, malt, DMS taste with a full mouthfeel.

Hazy golden hue with an okay head and good lacing. Floral aroma of hay fields, herbs, lemongrass, elderberry, grapes, and earthy yeast. Unique tastes of pineapple, herbs, aromatic hops and earthy heather and hay. Some sweet white wine qualities. Dry and clean finish. Thin to medium-bodied with a crewy and soft mouthfeel. Different for sure! For a slighty heavy ale it is quite refreshing. I'll have to get more of this.
