Commercial Description:
Bottle: Filtered
Brewed in Scotland since 2000 B.C. heather ale is probably the oldest style of ale still produced in the world. From an ancient Gaelic recipe for "leann fraoich" (heather ale) it has been revived and reintroduced to the Scottish culture.
Into the boiling bree of malted barley, sweet gale and flowering heather are added, then after cooling slightly the hot ale is poured into a vat of fresh heather flowers where it infuses for an hour before being fermented.
A light amber ale with floral peaty aroma, full malt charachter, a spicy herbal flavour and dry wine like finish.
Recommended with rich and Spicy foods.
Drink slightly chilled from a fluted glass.

Very interesting. Pours with a frothy, dissipating head. Sunny amber, zesty orange, festive appearance with carbonation clinging to the glass. Aroma is very sweet and flowery, with perfume, figs, raspberries and bready malt, finishing with a mossy earthiness. Taste is very velvety smooth, gentle and easygoing on the palate. The lack of hop bitterness is noticeable by a lack of "backbone" in the body, yet there is still a refreshing bitterness from a source I cannot figure out. Ginger, pears, cider apples, heather and sassafrass mingle on the tongue with robust buttery malt, and prepare you for the drying yet sweet and pleasing winey finish.

Straw gold color with small head. Malty/caramel/honey, herbal/floral, and gourd/pumpkin aroma. Spicy/galangal note apparent upon taste. Body is thin. I guess life before hops wasn’t that bad.

A strong golden colour, with a short lived white head. The aroma is pleasant with a flowery herbal notes. The flavour is unique, and damn tasty, at first it is a bit spicey, with touches of ginger, a sweet touch of honey, some eucalyptus in the middle, and a light herbal bitterness. All and all a top notch, and unique beer.
