Commercial Description:
Bottle: Filtered
Brewed in Scotland since 2000 B.C. heather ale is probably the oldest style of ale still produced in the world. From an ancient Gaelic recipe for "leann fraoich" (heather ale) it has been revived and reintroduced to the Scottish culture.
Into the boiling bree of malted barley, sweet gale and flowering heather are added, then after cooling slightly the hot ale is poured into a vat of fresh heather flowers where it infuses for an hour before being fermented.
A light amber ale with floral peaty aroma, full malt charachter, a spicy herbal flavour and dry wine like finish.
Recommended with rich and Spicy foods.
Drink slightly chilled from a fluted glass.

Very dry start to finish. Nice ’fizzy’ quality.

Give this one a shot. Very earthen, with hints of rosemary and sage. No hops are present, so keep that in mind, tasters. Couldn’t drink a lot of it, though.

this beer is tricky to me. goes down good but with a light yet bold texture. flavor is different from first sip, to swishing it, to swollowing it, then the after tatse. all different. sweet, then yeasty, a little spicy ,then almost like skunk beer on the after taste. so just drink this one up fast and it will be all ok.

This beer could be likened to a dry white wine. I am not sure if it wasnt brewed with herbs/spices or if it was hops. Very floral in aroma and flavor. A very interesting beer to say the least. Also, very enjoyable. Structurally, the head was soft and foamy, the body crisp and clear and finish was sweet. A very well crafted beer that I wish was more accessable.

Nice clear ale with foral aromatics. Light veggie taste from the heather tips. Drinkable but not for me.

Yeast smell. the first sip was quite bitter, very floral. the white wine properties started seeping in on the second sip and lasted the rest of the bottle. flowery, etc etc etc. I’m on an empty stomach and has this, so I’m doin ok... but how are you?
