Commercial Description:
Bottle: Filtered
Brewed in Scotland since 2000 B.C. heather ale is probably the oldest style of ale still produced in the world. From an ancient Gaelic recipe for "leann fraoich" (heather ale) it has been revived and reintroduced to the Scottish culture.
Into the boiling bree of malted barley, sweet gale and flowering heather are added, then after cooling slightly the hot ale is poured into a vat of fresh heather flowers where it infuses for an hour before being fermented.
A light amber ale with floral peaty aroma, full malt charachter, a spicy herbal flavour and dry wine like finish.
Recommended with rich and Spicy foods.
Drink slightly chilled from a fluted glass.

This is my first venture into a heather ale. A nice experience for sure. Appearance is cloudy copper color with a creamy off white head and some lacing. Aroman is interesting. Spicy, flowery and nice for sure. Flavor is also spicy, cinnemon flavor with a sweet initial taste rapidly giving way to an acidic (not unplesant) bitterness. A good beer

Thin white head. Light brown, see through. Malty nose, slightly sweet. Flavor is interesting. Has bitterness, but it is more like the kind of bitterness you get from exotic cabbage. Flavor is smooth and straw-like, with a nice finish. Interesting beer.

Slightly hazed, orange hue. Small sticky off white head. Mealy, malt nose. I really enjoy this heather brew. Slight smokiness, great herbal flavor, winey, and a very pleasant sweetness that rounds this out. I spose some could see it as 1 dimensional, but I feel it rocks.

Amber body, no head. Heather gives a nice floral kick. Palate proposes tart spicy banana bread and honey hints. Very refreshing, perfect medium effervescence. Light-medium body. Addictive spices somehow manages to provide balance to the mostly sweet flavor profile. Quaffable. I wouldn’t see this type of beer as any potential world-beater, but in its genre, it’s very satisfying if not quite a flavor festival. Thanks Josh!

Aroma wa flowery for a little bit,got some kind of metallic thing, very light and clear, taste was a pleasant surprise, almost reminded me of a slightly sweet jasmine tea, malting all very light ,as was the hopping, taste is soft and strangely pleasant,i think this Heather dominates . I thought this ws a rather interesting brew and I give it props for using a non-hops source of bittering. The flavor is predominantly malt, it has a straw-like smell, like a summer hayfield. A hint of black pepper taste , I assume from the heather. Bitterness barely percievable, in that respect similar to scottish hopped beers. Due to lack of hops, you won't be left drowsy and "becoming one with the couch". It was good and inspiring from a homebrewer's perspective

Very interesting, well-crafted ale. Very distinct, flowery and spicy at the same time. Little honey flavor, finishes well

Nice beer with a very original taste. It has a warm amber color with a normal medium head. In the nose you have intens floral aroma’s with a fresh lemongrass like accent. The taste is smooth and a little oily. In the mouth you have apple like hints and white wine accents. In the afthertaste there is a nice complex touch of flowers and fresh herbs.
