Gooseberry Wheat Ale
From the Gaelic "Groseid". Since at least the 16th century Scots monks and alewives brewed indigenous drinks from cereals, wild herbs and ripe fruits. Tibbie Shiels green Grozet was immortalised by such Scots literati as Sir Walter Scott, Jas Hogg. (The Ettrick shepherd) and Robert Burns whoconsidered it a most convivial drink.
Brewed with lager malt, wheat, bog myrtle, hops and meadowsweet then secondary fermented with ripe Scottish gooseberries.
A pale golden beer, with a refreshing fruit aroma, clean palate, fruity wheat flavour and crisp finish. Recommended with, light foods, pastas and salads.
Drink well chilled in a tall glass.

Golden with an orange hue to it. Had a decent taste, kinda like Cheerios and berries with a decent wheat aftertaste. I’d buy it again, but not in a 6 pack.

Bottle (in NZ - labelled as "Williams Bros Grozet"). Poured a clear gold with a pure white foamy head. Limes and berries in the aroma, a touch soapy. Lime again in the mouth and also again sudsy. But the palate is smooth and the finish is a pleasant moderate dryness.

Bottle, Barleycorns, Nantwich. Poured a hazy amber orange with a thin white head. Vague slightly grassy berry aroma. Didn’t detect a huge amount of berry in the flavour, but its just about there in the background. Mouthfeel was a bit thin. Refreshing enough but on the dull side of the fence.

Appearance: Golden orange. Nice amount of quite thick head. Aroma: Hopsy. Fruity, gooseberry. Taste: Gooseberry and hops. Bitterish. Weird. Not wheaty. Info: 500ml bottle, 12/12-2006, 124/500

Bottle poured a clear light copper with a lingering ring of ivory foam. Aromas of gooseberry, wheat and light vanilla. Palate was light bodied and crisp. Flavors of wheat, gooseberry and light citrus with a crisp dry lightly bitter finish.
