Gooseberry Wheat Ale
From the Gaelic "Groseid". Since at least the 16th century Scots monks and alewives brewed indigenous drinks from cereals, wild herbs and ripe fruits. Tibbie Shiels green Grozet was immortalised by such Scots literati as Sir Walter Scott, Jas Hogg. (The Ettrick shepherd) and Robert Burns whoconsidered it a most convivial drink.
Brewed with lager malt, wheat, bog myrtle, hops and meadowsweet then secondary fermented with ripe Scottish gooseberries.
A pale golden beer, with a refreshing fruit aroma, clean palate, fruity wheat flavour and crisp finish. Recommended with, light foods, pastas and salads.
Drink well chilled in a tall glass.

330ml bottle, 5% a/v Pours a very average gold colour with a thin white head. It smells of gooseberry and raspberry. The taste is unusual, almost like a mildly fruity ginger ale

Pours yellowy gold with a small head. Aroma is very sweet, with a noticeable (cran?)berry tinge, nutmeg and some other spices, and a little wheat. The flavour is weaker. Mild, sweet, very malty -- something tastes slightly berry, but it’s difficult to see where the gooseberries fit in. Some wheat and spices as well. Easy to drink and light -- but definitely not worth the outrageous price (at least here).

Carbonation is gentle yet persistent.. Very very slight berry flavor. Sweet.....just enough not too much. This beer goes down very smooth and leaves your mouth happy.

330 mL bottle. Orange gold in colour with a file of head. The aroma contains malt, honey and fresh fruit. Some indistinguishable herb as well. The flavour is quite unique. There seem to be quite a few things going on, but somehow they’re all mushed together. I can taste the wheat, the gooseberries, and some other stuff Something cinnamonny. At the end, for some reason, it reminds me of pop rocks. Quite dry and crisp. Interesting.

pours yellow with almost no head, little carbonation. smell - wheat, dry leaves, fruit, yeast, sweet. taste - salmon berries (these might taste the same as gooseberries, but i don’t think that Ive ever had gooseberries), touch of lime leaves, leaves the mouth oily and sticky.

From a box-set called "Historic Ales From Scotland". Bought at the LCBO. Fruity aroma. Flavor is sweet berries. Not bad.

Bottle with expiration date of Aug 2008 from a collector’s kit called "Historic Ales From Scotland." Pours a hazy yellow-gold with a little head. Aroma of grass. I did not notice any kind of berry aroma. Smooth enough in the mouth but nothing extraordinary about the flavor. Probably the weakest recipe in the package.

Had this beer on 1/8/2006. Aroma is light and wine like with hint of fruit. Color is a pale gold with light carbonation and a thin head. Taste is light and sweet. Starting with a light body it goes down easy with a crisp feel. Finish comes in strong with a sweet mild malt flavor and a hint of fruit. On the end is the distinct flavor that usually accompanies a Belgium Ale. It goes in a much bolder direction then any other flavored Wheat Ales I have ever had.
