Aroma is somewhat sour with a light wheat quality. Almost akin to orange juice. Bubbly mouth feel, somewhat thin. Sourish with a wheat backing. Very interesting beer! | 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 8/20 | Apr 21, 2007 Bottle. Pours a cloudy gold with a film of a head. Nose is very beery. This beer has a very light fruit flavor but other than that this one had nothing going on. Even as it warmed, the flavors were nothing to write home about, or anywhere else for that matter. mgermani (865), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Apr 19, 2007 Pours a slightly hazy gold with a light malt & corn aroma, with a creamy but brief head and some lace. Tastes of creamed corn, lightly malted and lightly hopped. Brief lukewarming aftertaste of corn and grain. Creamy body, slightly thin and low in carbonation. Not a terrible beer, but nothing to write home about. Tastes remarkably similar to Fraoch and other Williams Bros. beers. nearbeer (1858), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 10/20 | Apr 15, 2007 Updated: Aug 14, 2008Best by 08-07. Slightly hazy, golden orange with whitish head that lasts. Aroma is mildly corn lagerish, with a whiff of something burnt and stinky. Taste is sweet corn-lager yeast combo, with some malt evident. Dryish, with some tart fruit aftertaste; otherwise probably wouldn’t know any fruit was there, unless it told you so on the bottle. Palate is nice, light and creamy. I wanted to like this one as I’m glad they’re keeping some of the traditional non-hop beer additives in use, but it is really just an average brew. jackson220 (136), new lenox, Illinois, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Apr 6, 2007 bottle I liked this one. Poured turbid gold with a medium white head and good lacing. Aroma of malt, gooseberries, hops, and fruit. Tastes fruity, with hints of hops, malt, gooseberries. Finishes crisp, smooth, with a berry sweetness. Good complexity, and a very worthy beer. | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Apr 1, 2007 Bottle. Bought the "Historic Ales of Scotland" sampler pack. I had both Fraoch and Kelpie prior to, and enjoyed them both. This is certainly an interesting brew. It pours a cloudy, golden in color with plenty of yeasties. The head was a big fizzy inch tall that disappeared in no time flat. The flavor is almost that of a light wiezen - (wheat ale) and just a touch of fresh fruits. The finish is crisp and clean with just a touch of a citrusy bite. The aroma is fresh, clean with a hint of grain, yeast and fresh fruit. Maria (6303), Thisted, Denmark
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Apr 1, 2007 Straw with a weak head. The aroma is sweet/sour, and the mouthfeel is rather flat. The flavour has artificial notes of citrus, and I also get notes of creek water (bathing) and the gooseberry notes are weak. It’s a very different beer. thedm (3836), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA
| 1.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 2/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 5/20 | Apr 1, 2007 This $1.99 bottled brew from a bottle shop poured a small sized head of foam with a frothy top medium sized white colored bubbles that were and left behind a slightly hazy uncarbonated orange brown colored body and a poor lacing. The mild edelberry aroma was slightly malty. The mouth feel was tingly at the start and at the finish. The mild flavor contained notes of seaweed malt and mild hops. A horrible one that I would not buy again.
