Gooseberry Wheat Ale
From the Gaelic "Groseid". Since at least the 16th century Scots monks and alewives brewed indigenous drinks from cereals, wild herbs and ripe fruits. Tibbie Shiels green Grozet was immortalised by such Scots literati as Sir Walter Scott, Jas Hogg. (The Ettrick shepherd) and Robert Burns whoconsidered it a most convivial drink.
Brewed with lager malt, wheat, bog myrtle, hops and meadowsweet then secondary fermented with ripe Scottish gooseberries.
A pale golden beer, with a refreshing fruit aroma, clean palate, fruity wheat flavour and crisp finish. Recommended with, light foods, pastas and salads.
Drink well chilled in a tall glass.

Hazy golden hue, with a shy white head, with wheat, pale malt, fruity of gooseberries in the aroma, follows through on a medium-bodied palate, with wheat character, fruity of gooseberries and myrtles, even hint of cacao beans, go figure!, leading towards a fruity acidic and a modest hoppy finish.

Nearly no head. Medium golden, hazy hue. Smells slightly floral, maybe spicey. Tastes slightly sweet malt, some unnamable fruitiness. Palate was very nice, super smooth. no bite in finish and it was nicely balanced.

This golden lager poured with almost no head, eliciting a light fruity aroma. The initial flavor is hoppy and fresh, with a sharp bitter herbal finish. The taste is a bit thin and the gooseberry influence is barely discernable, making this a rather average drink.

Bottle. Golden colour with a white head. Malty, fruity, hay aroma and a sweet hay fruity taste. Medium body and a sweet dry finish.

Light yellow with a light copper tint. Thing white head that is quickly discipating. No lace. Nose is mostly wheat and some tinge of petrol. The taste up front is wheat and really like gooseberies. I have only had gooseberries once and it tasted like I remember, but I didnt really like gooseberries at the time. Not bad.

Bottled and best by end of August 2004. Great. Cloudy golden body with almost no head. Aroma is fruity and probably gooseberry. Definitely spices there as well. Somewhat acidic but still very easy to drink. Not big or impressive by any means, but certainly interesting.
