Gooseberry Wheat Ale
From the Gaelic "Groseid". Since at least the 16th century Scots monks and alewives brewed indigenous drinks from cereals, wild herbs and ripe fruits. Tibbie Shiels green Grozet was immortalised by such Scots literati as Sir Walter Scott, Jas Hogg. (The Ettrick shepherd) and Robert Burns whoconsidered it a most convivial drink.
Brewed with lager malt, wheat, bog myrtle, hops and meadowsweet then secondary fermented with ripe Scottish gooseberries.
A pale golden beer, with a refreshing fruit aroma, clean palate, fruity wheat flavour and crisp finish. Recommended with, light foods, pastas and salads.
Drink well chilled in a tall glass.

Not sure if I found any gooseberry here, but I enjoyed it nontheless. Straw yellow colour with a minimal white head. Aroma is fruity spiciness, with some slight hops. Taste is fruity, spicy and herbal, with some lingering hops bitterness. Watery finish with some bitter aftertaste was actually refreshing. Very nice.

Gooseberry is an interesting option. And once again the aroma gets you every time. But compared to a plenty of fruit beers it doesn’t quite meet the mark. Needs more hops and more tartness.

Hazy golden with an uninspiring large bubbly hite head. The aroma is quite fruity, I guess that is gosseberry that I am smelling, though I am not sure that I have ever smelled a gooseberry. Maybe its the bogmyrtle, whatever that is. Anyhow intersting aroma. The flavor is also quite fruity with some odd piney cleaning solution action. The body is quite watery. Props for being something different, but not something that I am real anxious to try again.

The Williams brothers do nice brews but this was not my bag. Good, don’t get me wrong... the gooseberry taste was intruiging.

Sweet, maybe yeasty aroma, sour. :aid back taste, light sweetness and crisp grains. I really cant place the flavors that well. thin body, decent enough flavor. not bad really.

I like the Heather Ale brewery quite a bit, big fan of Fraoch, have tried everything they’ve put out to the best of my abilities. So I was eager to be reunited with this "gooseberry wheat ale" and present my opinion. Appearance: hazy, dull yellow color, short, and soon demised white head. Aroma: sparkling, sprityzy, slightly fruity, a little sour. Very easy-going, smooth ride over the lips and down the throat, with a decent helping of good wheaten gritty texture. This ale trips very lightly along, and maintains a delicate fruity taste that just seems to float on the tongue. Light in body, moderately spiced and very mild in flavor. An interesting experiment/recreation, and a nice little beer. Nothing that will blow you away, nossir, but a nice, mellow brew, more than adequate as a simple dessert or a mellow nightcap.

Bottle: Aroma is very malty and fruity. Pours a dull transparent gold with a head that never can get going. Flavor is not as fruity as the aroma leads you to believe. Not a whole lot of taste. Somewhat malty. Somewhat citrusy. No real dominate flavor. Weak hop finish. Very thin. Very dry. Rather boring.

Light golden. The head is white, leaves quickly and leaves very little lacing. Dull...but the color is still pretty enchanting. Weird aroma. There is something so obvious in it but I can’t seem to pick it up. It is something I have smelled before though. Anyway, the aroma is fruity, peachy, sweet, perfume like and has some berry scents. I simply just do not like Heather Ales. I think they all are nasty and fucking weird. This is barable though. The taste is mainly the wheat malt and the gooseberries although there are some perfume like and tropical notes. Blah.
