Gooseberry Wheat Ale
From the Gaelic "Groseid". Since at least the 16th century Scots monks and alewives brewed indigenous drinks from cereals, wild herbs and ripe fruits. Tibbie Shiels green Grozet was immortalised by such Scots literati as Sir Walter Scott, Jas Hogg. (The Ettrick shepherd) and Robert Burns whoconsidered it a most convivial drink.
Brewed with lager malt, wheat, bog myrtle, hops and meadowsweet then secondary fermented with ripe Scottish gooseberries.
A pale golden beer, with a refreshing fruit aroma, clean palate, fruity wheat flavour and crisp finish. Recommended with, light foods, pastas and salads.
Drink well chilled in a tall glass.

Very fruity aroma. Sweet and sour dominated by gooseberry twang. Not bad moutfeel but having a little difficulty with the fruit and malt combo. Not totally unpalatable. Overall fairly refreshing but will probably not get a retaste.

I notice that I am drinking this brew quickly, but there is a reason. It is very thin and watery, however, not without flavor. If you are one who appreciates a few squeezes of lemon in your water you may appreciate the subtlty of this beer. Ever so malty, but fruity upfront, it finishes mildly sour and bitter. Refreshing. Although not worthy of admiration standing alone, this beer is an excellent pair to lighter fare such as fish and some pastas. The aroma of this pale golden headless brew is complex. One of a freshly cut tropical fruit and spice to subtle at this time for me to identify. Unique.

Hazy pale blond color with almost no head nor lacing. Lightly carbonated in the low end. The aroma is a little fruity but pretty light, almost like a lager or a wheat. The flavor is full of wheat and some almost bockish fruit notes and just a touch of some toasty malts. The alcohol feels really strong too, almost like the berries accentuate the alcohol. Finishes full of wheat and light crisp hops. Weird feeling going down. Not too bad.

Rerate from cask @ Brazen Head. The second time around I found this to be a totally different beer from cask. Refreshing, light and medium bodied. Flavors come through which are herbal tea and fruits. This stuff is bullshit. Gold color with flat pour. Tastes like a mop bucket. The sour taste is like someone threw some rotten apricots into that same mop bucket. Tradional Ale? Fuck that. Traditional Bullshit.

(Bottled) Murky amber color, no head. Gooseberry can be picked up from the slightly yeasty, fruity aroma. The flavor resembles apple juice more than beer, but it's not bad. Interesting, but won't probably get a re-taste.

Slilghtly murky golden color with a very thin head. Strange fruit nose, not like some Belgian brews. The taste is very straight forward: fruit with a touch of wheat. I could not distinguish any particular fruit, though others seem to have done so. It's very tasty and has real flavor to it without being bombastic.

Light gold and hazy. Syrupy pour with virtually no head. Lively medium bead carb. Bitter, not really hopped tasting. Tart berries make up most of the bitters. Good malt notes. Honey, some citrus, earth and grass. Touches of caramel. Finishes dry. Very much like a cider in the end. Very simple, well crafted, and refreshing.
