Gooseberry Wheat Ale
From the Gaelic "Groseid". Since at least the 16th century Scots monks and alewives brewed indigenous drinks from cereals, wild herbs and ripe fruits. Tibbie Shiels green Grozet was immortalised by such Scots literati as Sir Walter Scott, Jas Hogg. (The Ettrick shepherd) and Robert Burns whoconsidered it a most convivial drink.
Brewed with lager malt, wheat, bog myrtle, hops and meadowsweet then secondary fermented with ripe Scottish gooseberries.
A pale golden beer, with a refreshing fruit aroma, clean palate, fruity wheat flavour and crisp finish. Recommended with, light foods, pastas and salads.
Drink well chilled in a tall glass.

0,5lt Bottle (came as a gift with an order). Haze orange color with a small white head. Citric and herbal aroma. The flavor is a bit weird and not very well balanced. Citric fruits, lots of wheat, herbs and spices. Refreshing ans interesting yet I don;t thng I would try another bottle.

Bottle. This is golden, transparent in the glass with a thick, creamy white head. There’s lots of herbal aromas in the nose: grass, dandelion, then some berry (gooseberry?) and citrus, especially orange. The head on this thing is really yeasty, doughy; looks great. There’s plenty of grass in the flavour, more berry and citrus, a slight bitterness in the finish.

26 May 2006 - Sweet raisin fruit rum aroma. Cloudy brown-amber colur, lowish head, good suds lacing and sheet lacing. Sweet choc-fruit hop flavour. Sweet roasted malt finish and aftertaste.

Smells of syrupy gooseberries (surprising hey?). Tastes tart and of gooseberries with a sharp finish. Pale gold colour. I quite liked this.

A pale gold with a minimal white head. Tart berry aroma. Very clean palate. Flavor is hard to place. Fruity flavor is hard to place. Kind of berry, kind of not. I would definitely pair this with a salad. It would be perfect.

Drank in a tulip. Nice effervescence, sticky white head. Aromas of ginger, fruity hops, obvious gooseberries. Nice spicy sweet fruit flavors, ginger, a hint of maple syrup, star anise and bread yeast. Good bitterness with a dry finish. Floral aftertaste.
