Gooseberry Wheat Ale
From the Gaelic "Groseid". Since at least the 16th century Scots monks and alewives brewed indigenous drinks from cereals, wild herbs and ripe fruits. Tibbie Shiels green Grozet was immortalised by such Scots literati as Sir Walter Scott, Jas Hogg. (The Ettrick shepherd) and Robert Burns whoconsidered it a most convivial drink.
Brewed with lager malt, wheat, bog myrtle, hops and meadowsweet then secondary fermented with ripe Scottish gooseberries.
A pale golden beer, with a refreshing fruit aroma, clean palate, fruity wheat flavour and crisp finish. Recommended with, light foods, pastas and salads.
Drink well chilled in a tall glass.

bottle poured a golden color with a tin off white head. aroma has some funky fruit, wheat, and perfume. mouth feel is light and has somewhat flat carbonation. flavor is like a fruited pale ale with wheat, herbal from the myrtle, and finishing flat with berries and wheat. interesting concoction that is a little different than most.

Pours golden in color and a thin head. Aromas include hopps and some tart fruit. The fruit comes through nicely and the gooseberries show themselves well. The beer finishes rather bitter with hint of sweet fruit coming through as well.

Bottle. Poured a hazy light brown with a frothy but thin white head that left spotty lacing. Sweet aroma of fruits and chocolate malts. The flavor in a little more subdue with fruits, wheat, and light malts. Medium body that is sweet up front but a slight tart finish. Soft carbonation and a fruity aftertaste. A little weak on the flavor side but not to bad overall.

Pours clear yellow with a medium white head. Nose is gooseberry and faint malt. Flavor of rather sweet malts with a strong gooseberry backbone. Thin and watery mouthfeel. Is interesting but not memorable.

Bottle (500ml). Poured clear golden yellow with a good sized, dense, frothy, white head which was mostly lasting. Aroma was of lime bitters with lemon citrus, musty grainy malts, herbs and some cranberries. Flavor was of lemon & lime citrus with sweet grainy malts, light notes of grassy hops, mandarin and some light herby/bread notes. Light bodied with lively carbonation, a dry/watery mouthfeel and a refreshing finish.
