Big heavy lasting foam... mint in aroma!
Without gas.
This beer is very rare in Italy.

Chocolate, coffee and roasted malts in the aroma. It tastes of chocolate and malts. Fairly full bodied, smooth and creamy. Pretty good, but I think would prefer it if it had a higher alcohol content. oldrtybastrd (1801), Morlautern, Germany/Great Falls, Montana, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 14, 2005 Pours a nice dark color with a reddish hue. Aromas of chocolate, smoke. I was expected a salty or seaweed like taste, but nothing noted. Flavors of chocolate, malts, and some peat. Great Beer. FistFullOfCats (162), Raleigh, North Carolina, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 15/20 | Dec 5, 2005 Bottle. Pours black with a decent (half inch) creamy tan head. Wow, distinct milk chocolate smell, very different sort of aroma than all other chocolate scented beers I’ve encountered. Seriously, it smells like a Hershey bar. Initial taste only lightly of sweet chocolate; I have to agree, there is some distinctly oceanic saltiness here, mixed with some smoke. Bizzare. Now that the head has dissipated (about a minute) that saltiness is coming out in the aroma as well. Sharp bitter chocolate bite in the back of the throat. Finishes with a distinctly non hoppy bitter bite, but very quick. Disappears afterward. Feels watery, and leaves a light film in the back of the throat. Palate defiantly the most unpleasant thing about it. What a strange beer. I’m not sure if I’ll get it again, but I sure appreciate the history lesson. baaj (3), Denmark does not count | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 5, 2005 Rich and strong taste, dark in color.

I don’t get a lot of the seaweed in the flavour, but what I do get is a really nice dark ale with perhaps a saltiness that, while out of character, adds to the experience. There’s also a lot of dark dark dark chocolate in there. presario (2976), Calgary, Alberta, Canada
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Nov 20, 2005 Best before 10/2005. Big heavy lasting foam. Dark brown beer with interesting small cork-like sediment. Dark malt and strong salty funky aroma with a trace of chocolate in the lagoon. WOW! A lot happening in this glass. Starts out like a brown ale, then the salt and flavours build and roll in through the finish. sloth (1673), Ceciltucky, Co., Maryland, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Nov 11, 2005 Small light brown head, fair retention and lace. Dark brown brew, almost black. Nose is chocolatey, lightly roasty, almost nutty at times. Body is medium/light, slick mouthfeel. Chocolate flavors and roast in the flavor also, though i seem to pick up a bit of saltiness? Mind over matter maybe? Drinking a beer brewed with seaweed. Finish is medium sweet with a faint smokiness. Never thought i,d try this brew, been looking at it for years and just could,nt bring myself to give it a go. Thanks to Degarth for the trade and pushing me into trying it. Thanks man!
