Starts with a chocolatey, light malt character, and a smooth texture. The saltiness does develop in the finish, along with some restrained hops. It's interesting but with a short, rich finish. leaparsons (4730), Leicester, Leicestershire, England
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jan 21, 2004 Very dark and still. The aromas are smokey malts and peat. Flavours are also smokey peat with some fruit acidicy. Unusual but decent. TheBeerGod (3157), Newport News, Virginia, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jan 11, 2004 Pours near black with a tall fluffy tan head. Nose is unexpected but nice! Roasted malt, and a light hint of wood. More of the roasted malt with some sweet tones and a hint of smoked wood. Finishes very smooth and has a rich creamy mouthfeel. WAY better than expected. Very porter-like to me. Great beer! Syd (901), Waconia, Minnesota, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jan 1, 2004 Bottle pours a deep amber, almost black, color with a decent off white head and no lace. The aroma is of roasted malt. The flavor is of smoky roasted malt and a sour fruit finish with an additional acidic favor in the back and a slightly coating nature. Overall, this is OK, but will avoid looking for it. BeerandBlues2 (3216), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA

Ther eis a wood/bourbon cask vein to this, yet fruity, like strawberry. Mildly sour, with a milky/lactic quality. Peanut shells come to mind for the dry saltiness this leaves. Thin, low carbonation palate. Nut-brown color. Curious. (Sampled at Southern Ratebeer Gathering, Austin, TX, December 6, 2003) adwoan99 (244), Ft. Worth, Texas, USA
| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Dec 11, 2003 Does seaweed count as an adjunct? I like the cola appearance and palate of this beer, but the aroma and flavor are too pronouncedly seaweed for my liking. Very nice burnt flavor, but I just can't get over the fishyness.
