Blom (408), Odense, Denmark Apr 20, 2008 Black with a brown head. Sweet malty aroma and flavours of chocolate, spice and roasted malts. It ends on a salty note, so perhaps the seaweed it present there - otherwise I can’t detect it. A fine brew, nevertheless!
larsga (2326), Oslo, Norway Oct 11, 2008 Huge brown-beige lasting head. Deep dark red barely translucent body. Roasty milky chocolatey aroma with earthy coffee notes. Sweetish mild salty earthy milky coffee and chocolate taste, balanced and harmonic. Mid-bodied. Dry roasty papery coffee aftertaste with floral notes. Nice, and unusual. (0.5l bottle, Centra, Oslo.) xibalba89 (112), New York, New York, USA Sep 22, 2008 Pours black with a tan head. Aroma has a salty, nori-esque tinge to it, but nothing special. I found it to be fairly weak. The flavor is pretty much non-existent, though I did note some chocolate in there on the finish, which doesn’t last long. I would recommend drinking this one at room temperature, as the flavor started to come out some more as it warmed up. The mouthfeel is nice, though... very creamy and full. Not nearly as interesting a beer as I was hoping. There’s subtle, and then there’s invisible. This one falls under the latter category. beer_chugger (76), Colorado, USA Sep 20, 2008 Very deep dark ale with a nice head. The fist whiff smelled of roasted malts and chocolate, very chocolately aroma. Second whiff was more sweet, peppary with a little bit of fruit involved as well. Upon tasting it, I was very surprised. I could tell no seaweed, though I thought it was a little smokey and salty giving it a nice complexity. Of course, the roasted malts also showed themselves nicely beside the chocolate. Actually, a rather nice brew...anything but disappointing. Lubiere (3326), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada Sep 17, 2008 A deep dark brown ae, like a stout, with a thin moka head. Aroma of sweet chocolate, molasses, and light vanila. A nice sweet malt cereal taste, with roasted nuts, coffee. Medium bodied. LCBO gift set 2006. BB March 2007. topherh (278), Kearney, Missouri, USA Sep 16, 2008 Bottle. Poured Reddish brown. Flavor was roasted malt and licorice that fades to an almost coffee like flavor.
