It’s like they say, difficult to pin down, Doppelbock, a Belgian? a lot of citrus fruit flavor in this, rich & complex. Not quite my style of beer but a good brew non the less. I may revisit this one during the hot summer months and see what it says to me then, right now I’m in heavy stout mode... harmfuldrunk (288), New Jersey, USA

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Jan 12, 2006 Clear red-amber body with mild carbonation and a soapy, fading beige head. Aroma of sweet, somewhat underattenuated malt, cashew butter, cocoa, and a hint of banana. Malty, sweet cherry cola syrup flavor with some early oxidation. Mouthfeel is flat and syrupy without much action on the palate. A simple candy beer, but a passable sipper at least once. sneagrams3 (1761), St. Louis, Missouri, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Dec 11, 2005 12z bottle. 4th Heavyweight tonight. Hazy, amber, brown hue. Musty and yeasty, apples, moss, licorice, and an alcohol warmth. Light but full. Nutty, Burnt sugar and honey and syrup. Great beer! jdjuice (203), Japan
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 18/20 | Dec 8, 2005 Pours a dark brown with nice head. Nose is vinous with maybe some toffee. Tasting is considerably more complex, with sharp fruit flavors and smooth roastiness and toffee flavors. Some interesting sourness also, nothing overpowering, I think it complements it nicely. A little more hop flavor would have balanced this out a bit I think. Very good all around. Aubrey (2781), Denver, Colorado, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 6, 2005 Murky brown. Rich and smooth texture. Doughy, earthy malts, with notes of toasted brown sugar, sweet apples and zippy cherries. Healthy amount of sourness mixed in. Mild bitterness. Nice sweet & sour balance. Decent strong. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Nov 19, 2005 Beer pours cloudy, dark brown with a totally retained creamy off-white head. So far, so good. Aroma is intriguing and inviting, notes of dark fruit, i.e. figs and prunes. Significant malt sweetness and a yummy yeast aroma are present also. Flavor is sweet, with candy sugar, dark fruit, and a bit of a dry, spicy finish. The finish is also a bit milk choclatey, which seems a bit mis-placed in a beer of this style. An average Belgian Strong, quite a good example for a beer brewed in America.
