| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Aug 30, 2004 Obtained as one of the ten selections that came my as a part of BIF 10 via beeradvocate Lupe, this beer poured a nice mahogany and red color. There was a very small head that was gone without much fanfare. The aroma was very malty and vinous with a spicy warm bite. The taste was intense with both sweet dark fruits and bitter tannins with an intense spiciness lurking in the backgrounds. There was a nice chocolaty roastiness and a mild acidity in the taste as well. This was basically like a beefed up Dubbel cut with a Porter. The complexity made this a sipper and not a downer. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Aug 6, 2004 Pours a murky reddish-brown with hardly any head. The taste is very different, malty but with a subtle sour counterpart. Almost like a thin barleywine mixed with a Belgian. Very interesting. FROTHINGSLOSH (2038), GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Aug 6, 2004 Updated: May 26, 2006I have been a fan of this brewery for a while. This one certainly sounded interesting given the description. Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a cloudy dark brown with almost no head. The aroma was strong roasted malt and chocolate. The flavor was sour apple and roasted malt with a fruity sourness on the finish. The texture was noticeably flat. A very interesting brew that I will have to revisit again some time. rudolf (1787), Buffalo, New York, USA
