Commercial Description:
Baltus, a hybrid style, is a top-fermented beer made with English floor malts, malted wheat and noble hops. A classic European yeast strain with a subtle yet discernable estery profile is employed. A warmer fermentation, followed by a period of cold conditioning serves to develop and refine this complex beer.

Deep brown, clear, no head and little carbonation. Malty spicy aroma. Clean, light, sweetly fruity flavor. Maybe a bad bottle and a re-rate is needed, but for now.... Not bad, but not outstanding either.

Yeasts, mustiness, grassy, grainy, sour nose. Fairly complex. Slightly hazy gorgeous garnet-mahogany color with a nice off-white head and nice lacing. Start is sour with raisin hints to start. Inky maltiness to finish. Smoke in the end as well. Pretty interesting and complex beer. I like this a lot.

12oz Bottle No Fresh Date.. Pours a deep and mostly clear zinfindel red with only a faint film on top. Sugary aroma with Belgian characteristics such as fruit and yeast. Nothing complex however. Body is crisp and medium. Flavor is slightly bitter for the style and lacking any excitement. Some fruit in the flavor but has a lingering after taste that I didn’t want. Overall a fair attempt at the style.

Pours dark brown. Aroma of malt, fruit, caramel. Tastes like malt, with some nuts, fruit, and roasty flavor at the finish.

too strong and malty with some wierd smoky flavors. Reminded me more of a scottish strong than a belgian. Deep brown color and cloudy with slight to no head. Decent but not that great.

Pours a rich ruby-brown body with almost no head. Aroma is dark fruits, brown sugar, malt, and spice. The fruit aroma seems to be dominant. Taste is spice and more fruit. It’s very sweet, also. The alcohol doesn’t seem very pronounced. In fact, it’s rather tame for 8.2%. Mouthfeel is a bit carbonated and spiced. Finish is more fruit and a hint more of the sugary notes. Good beer, and VERY drinkable.

Dark orange color, cloudy, cherries in the nose, some small chunks floating about. Big malts, semi-sweet and fruity. Has a sweetish cherry finish.

Dark mahogany nice foamy white head and lace. Bread! More aroma of wine grapes, brown sugar, hops, and alcohol. Spicy, not expected, more brown sugar comes out. Hops and alcohol as well. Strange. Thick body with a spicy alcohol finish.
