| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jan 31, 2004 Sparkling clear mohagony ale with a small, fizzy, light brown head and decent lacing. The nose and flavor consist of red apple, band-aid (yep) and buttery caramel.
Well-balanced with plenty of yeast and alcohol.
Full-bodied with a watery mouthfeel and fizzy carbonation. Short, pungent, then dry, astringent finish. Lots going on in the nose and flavor, but none of it is harmonic. A virtual grab bag of nice flavors and aromas with no real direction. Still, a fine offering from the folks in New Jersey.

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jan 9, 2004 The aroma is good. Really smells like a belgian strong. Pours caramel opaque, but head is gone before you finish pouring. Taste is not quite as good as the smell. Caramel and apricot at first, but then it dies, just when I want it to explode. I like it, but want more from it and it just doesn't deliver. Not bad though, I enjoy tasting it, and the smell is really nice. I just wish it had more body, and a fuller taste. Appearance is cloudy. I don't find any thing that is really good out of this. Rerate: Liked it a lot better the second time. I left all the yeast in the glass, and tasted a lot more clean and crisp. Next time I'll pour just a little bit of yeast in it amx1970390 (466), Southampton, Pennsylvania, USA
