Commercial Description:
Baltus, a hybrid style, is a top-fermented beer made with English floor malts, malted wheat and noble hops. A classic European yeast strain with a subtle yet discernable estery profile is employed. A warmer fermentation, followed by a period of cold conditioning serves to develop and refine this complex beer.

Sparkling clear mohagony ale with a small, fizzy, light brown head and decent lacing. The nose and flavor consist of red apple, band-aid (yep) and buttery caramel. Well-balanced with plenty of yeast and alcohol. Full-bodied with a watery mouthfeel and fizzy carbonation. Short, pungent, then dry, astringent finish. Lots going on in the nose and flavor, but none of it is harmonic. A virtual grab bag of nice flavors and aromas with no real direction. Still, a fine offering from the folks in New Jersey.

The aroma is good. Really smells like a belgian strong. Pours caramel opaque, but head is gone before you finish pouring. Taste is not quite as good as the smell. Caramel and apricot at first, but then it dies, just when I want it to explode. I like it, but want more from it and it just doesn't deliver. Not bad though, I enjoy tasting it, and the smell is really nice. I just wish it had more body, and a fuller taste.

Prominent, permanent figs adorn the very fruity, foggy morning...Sweet cherry pie and muddy prune oatmeal steam up the olden windows...Malt is everywhere yet the body is only that of a thick juice...Waking up at Grandma's always harbors interestingly quizzical moments...

It was on tap. Nice deep, dark in color with a off white head. Very good beer. Really enjoyable. It has a warming feel to it. It warms you up. Fruity nose.

Tap. Nice deep cooper, brown color, thin head. Fruity nose. Thin malty brew, with notes of carmel and raisin. The palate has a decent alcohol burn to it. Decent drinkable brew.

Tastes like spiced apple cider. Aroma is musty, kind of like dirty sox. Appearance is cloudy. I don't find any thing that is really good out of this. Rerate: Liked it a lot better the second time. I left all the yeast in the glass, and tasted a lot more clean and crisp. Next time I'll pour just a little bit of yeast in it

Deep ruddy brown in color. Aroma is brown sugar and malts. Flavor is sweet with a stale finish. Low carbonation. Not anything to write home about.
