Commercial Description:
Baltus, a hybrid style, is a top-fermented beer made with English floor malts, malted wheat and noble hops. A classic European yeast strain with a subtle yet discernable estery profile is employed. A warmer fermentation, followed by a period of cold conditioning serves to develop and refine this complex beer.

12 oz bottle from Firewaters AC. Poured a murky mahogany with almost no head at all. Aroma was sweet and syrupy with lots of malts. Flavor was very nice with tons of malts and sweetness of brown sugar, toffee and some caramel. My first and probably last beer from Heavyweight I just wish I got back into the good stuff while they were still in business.

12 oz. bottle. Pours a cloudy deep amber with a moderate off-white head that lasted through the entire glass. Pleasant aroma of malt and brown sugar. There was more going on in the flavor than with the aroma with malt, brown sugar, dates and raisins all present. Very nice slightly viscous mouthfeel enriches this beer. A bit of an alcohol burn at the finish. Very good stuff and seems to be holding up well.

Bottle courtesy of jasonmech: Murky brown pour with an off white head. Aroma, chocolate, toffee, some brown sugar. Flavor, brown sugar, caramel, some earthy hops, a bit of alcohol, and some bread. Decent.

Bottle. Cloudy, murky mahogany filled with floaties, minimal cream color head. Aromas of toffee, raisins, apple, pineapple and a touch of cheesy yeast. Interesting flavor profile-- Brown sugar, raisin and orange, mostly sweet and malty, but with a slight (hop?) bitterness on the finish. Smooth and full with almost no carbonation. Not bad for a local brew that’s been put out of business.

Bottle from Cornboy; Thanks; Nose of spices, bananas, and sweet caramel; rust colored with a small beige head; flavor of brown sugar, caramel malt, spices, fig newtons, and some alcohol in the medium body, the alcohol lasting to the finish.

Pours brown with medium head. No lacing. Smells like dark fruits and brown sugar. Taste adds toffee and grain. Medium body and fizzy. Long, sweet finish. Pretty good stuff.

Tap at barcade: Pours a deep, slightly hazy amber. Sweet, slightly musty aroma. Yeasty sweet notes are evident: banana, sweet cherry wood hint. Bright fruityness with berries, tarter notes of green apples & grapes and a slightly dry leafy finish. Overall simple, and a bit too sweet.
