| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Aug 9, 2006 Seems like a mix between a Belgian Strong Ale and an English Strong Ale. There is a prevalent earthy hoppiness and licorice/gum flavor apparent, but the fruity start is that of a BSA. Minty finish, with slightly noticable alcohol, cherry, peace, horseradish, cheese. Good brew. jimbowood (956), Athens, Georgia, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 16/20 | Aug 6, 2006 Bottle. Unsure what to think about this one. Interesting- definitley a hybrid as I couldn’t tell if it was a Belgian strong, a strong porter, or a barley wine. Coffee, bitter fruit and malt dominate. Good alcohol presence. No hop presence. | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jul 26, 2006 This is an odd one. Pours a dark amber color with a thin white head. Fruity aroma intrigues me because I pick up lots of dark fruit over a slight tartness. Mostly malty flavor with a strange almost grapefruit like tartness. Hints of apple and plum as well. Alcohol has mellowed a lot in this one. Dangerously easy to drink but sort of boring. jason (1624), Easton, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jul 24, 2006 Bottle (not sure age but plenty of dust on it!) I’ve made the mistake of opening this beer early in the evening before dinner and not after. With that being said my review may lack some but I’ll be re-rating this again because I picked up a pack. When I was drinking this I realised this was a dessert beer, strictly for sipping and nothing else. Lots of sediment in this one. Very, very malty, strong. Next time I drink this I’ll be sure to be in the mood for a very malty ale. KidA (19), Morristown, New Jersey, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jul 11, 2006 On tap at Heavyweight. Deep Amber with hardly any head. Stronger than the aroma implies; this beer is like a punch in the mouth. Thick mouthfeel with the alcohol apparent and a somewhat sour flavor. Thaichile (599), 10aFly, New Jersey, USA
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Jul 8, 2006 Tap. Nose is dried fruit and herbs. I have no idea what the palate is on this one other than it is very unsual. Sweet and sour, malty, minimally carbonated brew. I wouldn’t have another but I’m glad I tried this Heavyweight creation. beervana (781), Libertyville, Illinois, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jun 22, 2006 (05.18.06) 12 oz brown bottle from Firemoose15. 8.2% ABV. Clear red amber with small white head. Soft carbonation. Fruit punch aroma. Medium bodied ale that starts with light malt sweetness and caramel, cotton candy, fruity flavors. Finishes with light malt fade. Thick, sweet, malty, resembling a barleywine. This sipping brew would make a very good dessert beer. Thanks Firemoose!
