Aroma of yeast and sour funk. The head had the same taste as the aroma, but the beer itself was fabulous. Amber/brown in color. Taste was of maple, wood, vanilla, sugar cookies, caramel, and dark fruits. Rich, sweet, and chewy. Great beer. TomDecapolis (3173), Skippack, Pennsylvania, USA

Pours a translucent ruby amber with an average off white bubbly head that left slight lacing. Aroma of dark fruits, apples, vanilla, hints of bourbon, alcohol that almost burns, candy sweetness, rotting fruits. Flavor of caramel corn, green apple, some dark fruits, candy corn, some sourness, can’t detect too much of the bourbon barrel aging in the flavor. Still a solid beer, just not what I was expecting. Thinking this one may have passed it’s peak. harrisoni (6798), Ashford, Kent, England

US hops, bit of wood, bit of sourness. Wow. Great aroma, intense and interesting. It’s fantastic in the mouth too, full, but then a toffee wood finish that goes on and on. Wonderful caramel, bit of smoke. Some vanilla. Toffee sweet, oaky flavours in mouth. Lovely real caramel, like Cadbury’s Caramel. JorisPPattyn (5171), Antwerpen, Belgium

Extremely superb nose of vanilla, oak, higher alcohols, wine & brandy alike - impressive. Sweet taste, alcoholic with rosewater, almonds, sweet fruits (overripe pears, apricots, apricotbrandy). Slick, alcoholwarming, full-bodied, exuberant character. The very last batch, specially treated. God - this ought not to have been lost, love it too much. Thanks Bill & Warren! tiggmtl (4311), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Jan 20, 2007 Vanilla and oak are very apparent in the aroma along with a nutty, marzipan-like malt sweetness and some delicate wafts of alcohol. Opaque brown body is topped by a decent and lasting tan/brown head that leaves some lacing as it recedes. Huge, sweet nutty flavour with ginger bread, brown sugar, caramel, salt, leafy, floral hops and moderate bitterness. Medium full body with soft textured bubbles. Ver lively and effervescent. I’m usually not a big fan of the barrels but this one is done really well. Bottle enjoyed with beerbuzzmontreal, cathschlag, MartinT, Olivier_MTL, Siroy and Yowie. scania (184), Malmö, Sweden

Very complex, and very very enjoyable. great brew. cheers pops! Mangino (1027), Mississippi, USA

Aroma is sweet, full of dark fruit. Drinking this is syrupy sweet, with the bourbon barrel fighting the dark malts for the feature.
