Columbus gathering. So excited to get this beer before it was all gone. One of the most unique barley wines ive eve had. Aroma of fruit and spice with a little pine. Flavor was smooth and the alcohol was well hidden.

Bottle shared by Odeed! Best barleywine I’ve had! Nose was like a white merlot wine, with oakiness, plums, and some dominant vanilla; cherry browm color with virtually no head; flavor of oaky bourbon; vanilla, and some dark friut. Alcohol was absolutely covered by the extreme smoothnees of this brew!

thanks to someone (?????) for sending me this.poured a beautiful deep ruby red with a small head that tried to form,but just couldnt make it.nice aroma of vanilla,chocolate,caramel malts,bourbon,dark fruit,and oak.flavor blends upthe same with the alcohol well hidden.mouthfeel was like liquid velvet and the palte was long lasting and smooth.this was simply outstanding.

Good seal and a decent hiss as the cap comes off, pouring to a deep, translucent and cherry bronze color. Heavy moon-like surfaces line the top and spawn sticky lace. Deep, deep nose. Vanilla, maraschinos in brandy alexanders, and rhubarb. Aromatic synchronies shine upon sandy shores overcoming a late march permafrost, while complimentary aroma allusions give weight to its alcohol strength, amaretto bubblegum and rum-enhanced cherry-toffee grahams. Big, delicious animal. Sherry pulled from an extensive stay in oak, with a plum butteryness accentuated from a whiskey and rye platform. Blanched raisins in boozy mince meat pie create a darker flavor mood. Warming alcohol clings to the tonsils while a wet, hot wax oozes across the palate. Disaronno caramel cubes melt abundantly across the palatary playing field. There’s a lip smacking bittersweet balance which lends to a deceptively dry tongue feel post-swallow. Cranberries and elderberries drum up dark fruited anthems while a toasted, woodsy coconut motif smoothes over the traditionally brighter aspects of said berries. Nearly scorched crème brulee lets its presence be known in the finish while plum skin and prune juice interject a few complimentary tannic elements. Big thanks to apoptosis for the bottles!

750ml bottle shared at Columbus 2.0 tasting by nolankowal! - Thanks! - Pours dark ambre with very little head and light lace. Aromas of caramel, vanilla, and oak with light bourbon. Flavor is caramel, vanilla, oak, and bourbon. Smooth with light carbonaton and a sweet lingering finish with some alcohol noticable at the end.

Bottle, 2005. Coffee colored, very dark for a barley wine, almost no head. Aroma is sweet hops, vanilla, cheese, bourbon, vinous, salty, almost eggy (smells like chinese food). Sweet and smooth, salty smoked meat flavor, almost no bitterness. So sweet, very well masked alcohol, weirdly smooth, and unbalanced in an interesting way. Nice mouthfeel, smooth, creamy, almost no carbonation. A super unique barleywine, and stupid smooth relative to ABV. Nice. Rerate - reddish brown in color. Really nice pour, would’ve like more head, but still nice. Extremely well blended aroma. Really well balanced. Great beer. I’ve had this bottle for about 18 months, and it’s really mellowed. Track it down.

Brown hue with a tan head. Mild carbonation. Quite a lot going on in the sweetness department: syrup, Sugar Daddy caramel, toffee, candy corn and brown sugar. Nice and subtle whiskey note, along with some hints of fruit. Perhaps a little too sweet for me, but still tasty. Earthy, wholesome beer. Thanks for sharing, Brad.
