’05 bottle at the final heavyweight open house. I’d been waiting for two years to try this, and it was worth it - body is cloudy copper with a light tan head. butter bourbon and sherry aroma. flavor is like smooth red sherry with a little heat but a very enjoyable heat! clean finish. great stuff!

RBSG 06. Clear, amber body with off-white head, lasting cover. The aroma is raisins, brown sugar, rum and cherry. The flavor is rum raisin, prunes, molasses, fairly sweet. Full body, sticky.

Draft at DRE event. Pours dark brownish with aroma of caramel, oaky bourbon, mixed dark skinned fruit, some peaty notes. The flavor is very fruity, with oaky bourbon notes, plus some hops, brown sugar, figs, cabernet, and cobwebby peaty mossy hints. Very complex.

Bottle from beastiefan2k. Pours mahagony with a small frothy tan head. Aroma is bordeux, bourbon and oak, vanilla, caramel and maple, brown sugar malt (cookie, meal) and yeast (earth). Sweet flavor, caramel and brown sugar, cookie malt and wood, doughy yeast, fragrant sweet bourbon, non-offensive, maple and chocolate notes at the end. Warm and dark bodied, smooth and velvety palate.

Head is initially small, fizzy, off white, fully diminishing. Body is hazy dark brown. Aroma is moderately malty (caramel), with notes of brown sugar, whisky, vanilla, toffee, wood, alcohol. Flavor is moderately to heavily sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Medium to full body, watery/syrupy texture, lively/soft carbonation, lightly to moderately alcoholic. Surprised I liked this, but the bourbon was very mild and not corny. Very smooth and well-hidden alcohol.

Bottled. Beer is hazy medium gold-brown color with a small, white, nealy totally diminishing head. The aroma is quite nice: Malty with a light note of toasted grain, caramel; Hoppy with moderate, floral and herbal note, light note of resin/pine, lemon zest; Yeasty with a light note of savory sourdough; Moderate note of alcohol, burbon, light notes of vanilla, oak, sweet stone fruit. The flavor is heavily sweet, moderately bitter with a long, warm, lightly acidic, moderately bittersweet finish. ABV is almost entirely cloaked. The body is full, the texture is velvety/syrupy and the texture is soft.

Bottle. No head, hardly any carbonation. Clear dirty brown. Aroma is mint almost like toothpaste, slight vegetables, ethanol. Taste is big malts, lots of interesting spicy notes (cinnimon, etc). Lingering mint. Doughy, fresh cookies. Catching just a hint of bourbon on the finish. Alcohol is very well hidden, wow. Nice complex and approachable barleywine.
